Like this site, finally a page that have recent updates on all major programs I use (also with the "fixes" ) . I have no problem with the navigation on the frontpage so far :D

But maybe you should feature more stuff on the frontpage, the community is providing a lot of links every day for new stuff as I see here.

Overall I like it, thanks

We have no intention of listing "everything" - we only wish to list "the best". We take suggestions seriously, which specific software items do you wish us to list?

Well, me again :D

To be honest now I'm happy now with your choice of Software, and in the last few months you also added some new stuff ;)

That was a "in general" comment...

I am registered...and of course I love the site. I know this doesn't really count and all but I'm here to give the props where the props is due. The site has stayed relatively the same with of course some improvements. No change thus far has been a bad change as some sites will sometimes make a giant leap and it overwhelms the people with all the radical changes. A slow yet steady improvement seems to be the best approach and this has been the motto of nsanedown that I can see for as long as I have been coming here.

I only have one really tiny issue. I know that it has been a while since the implementation of the "If you downloaded the patch you have to wait 20 minutes before you do it again" but every now and then, the patch won't load up properly and I have to wait that extra 20 minutes. This really isn't a big deal of course but if we are talking about how to improve things better, have alternative download locations for the patches/cracks/keygens/serials. One link will open a much smaller window allowing you to download either from the nsane proxy or from any other choice locations on the internet.

We've discussed this 'issue' before, but we haven't been able to find a suitable fix (and code it) yet.

Thanks for bringing this under our attention again though :)

01.) We've got the best discussion board here . . . . . . . . . . . undeniably - I've become inactive over 37 other boards to park my ass permanently over here. ^_^

02.) The Mods. are kickass and congeniality redefined - they make you feel at home. Lite ranks # 2 in my book of Admins close behind Brink. ^_^

03.) Special note here for jalaffa who is one of the swiftest news-breaker on the net - however the # 1 news-breaker in town (who also happens to be a member out here) is inactive with only 5 posts to his name. :(

05.) My friends - the Coders are the real cream though (nSane rocks chiefly due to each one of them.)

06.) The board had a great line going for 'recognition' - this good quality got diluted somewhere along the way. :(

07.) Wish I did not have to say this; the FrontPage sucks . . . . . . . . . to me. :(

3 people liked / thanked this

Hmmm, I wonder what you're talking about in some points, but let's find out :D

What would you like to see changed on our frontpage?

And @point 6: the Member of the Week contest should return, some day.

  • I think the changes to the front page recently have been subtle but excellent.
  • I'd also like to add that at times the links to the cracks (nsane proxy) don't work cleanly & time out or the download ain't completed successfully then of course I have to wait 20 min or so to resume, hope this can be sorted out especially for those who haven't gotten the luxury of high speed net(2 Mbps or more) like me.
  • Then I'd like to point out that why isn't all of the software downloads from nsane forums available to guests like me who visit the site daily ?
  • You should also add another (sub)section to news updates dedicated to hardware/software where perhaps even guests can contribute that can be moderated/verified by the admins before being posted on the site.
  • Last but not the least is that this is one of my favorite sites not only for SOFTWARE AS IT SHOULD BE but also for some latest news which I'm quite interested in so I'd also like to contribute & I'm sure other non members do too.

^^ why dont you register on forums?^^

1- you'd b able to contribute

2- all posted soft is tested personally by posters(that is why it is better, than anywhere else)

3- You'd be able to do test and discuss all the betas and many things as well

I've got no qualms about registering here but just a thought that guests/non members(unregistered) if possible can be allowed to post in the news/software section & those contributing can be allowed access to other sections according to their contribution that's all !

Thanks for the feedback rohit. :)

To avoid problems with the nsane proxy, add

http://proxy.nsanedown.com/*

into you exception list of your download manager, AV and firewall etc. This will allow you to download files successfully.

It's nice to hear from you. People can always register. Helps contribute more. ^_^

The main problem I had with nsane forums was also downloading from front page. But now with your info DKT27 that issue should be over. So thanks DKT27 and nsane for this great site. Coders corner is a nice addition to the site BTW.

Registration is free and a quick. We have no intentions in opening more "avenues" for guests (they are able to view most of the content on the forums). By requiring registration for posting we can minimize spam and malware.

1. I feel free to say thank you for everyone who has been working on the fp :) (directly or indirectly). (Even you, Lite :P)

2. The FAQ provides a lot of information to avoid having problems with our downloads, there's even a dedicated thread (in the Site / Forum Feedback, where guests can post) should you still experience any problems. The wait is to protect ourselves from DoS attacks/draining bandwidth, so it won't be removed. We did consider more complicated systems and we might have a look at it again, but don't expect it any time soon. However somehow your mentioning of this made me think about the 'Wait for 20 minutes' page and I think we should add a link 'If you're having problems with our downloads have a look at our FAQ.'. This should lead more users experiencing problems to the FAQ :) So thanks again :D

3. How do you mean, not all of the Downloads? Are you talking about reading topics in the Direct Downloads Libary? I'm not sure why we didn't allow this, maybe Lite would like to clarify. (It's possible that this is a mistake, we have a lot of permissions )

4. Guests can contribute in the Frontpage Software Updates by posting updates to the frontpage, we do not allow guests to post programs not listed on the frontpage for the simple reason that we'd like to be able to contact a user in case anything should be wrong with their post (or ask them to become staff should it be incredibly great  :P).

5. If you'd like to contribute the same applies at point 4: we'd like to be able to contact a user regarding a post. Also we kind of figured that people wanting to contribute wouldn't mind registering. Allowing Guests to post anywhere or in more sections would lead to a considerably amount of (extra) spam and increase the load on our staff, so I doubt we'll ever allow this ;)

Last but not least: nice list, some good stuff :)

Keep it coming! (@everyone)

To shought

  • I don't have access to broadband in my area so I use a mobile internet(broadband) package which has high latency+jitter & depends on signal strength. Now as we all know that the world is going wireless & more users will be hooked up to the web with a 3g/4G tech or wifi than traditional wireline broadband, the point is by nature these are not as reliable &/or stable like fixedline connections so there will always be disruptions while downloading stuff not only here but elsewhere as well. So I'd suggest posting an alternate link to a media sharing site or an ftp server in case the link to nsane proxy times out or the download fails midway & you don't have to remove the 20 min restriction thereafter either.
  • You do know that not all the sections of nsane forums are accessible to guests & hence software downloads in there as well.
  • I did say that guests can contribute news/software in the public section(if possible) & they can submit their mail address to keep a track of them also before being posted they can be verified/checked by a mod though that'll increase their workload manifolds. I know for a fact that comments/threads of new members(even registered) are checked before being posted on 606 forum of BBC & anyways I've seen registered users spam on MDL, suprbay forums & the likes so registration ain't a solution to the problem !
  • My only problem with registration is that I've got to keep track of over a dozen forum Id's & their passwords besides many other mail accounts which is frankly troublesome.

P.S.

Hope this is taken in good light & not brushed aside like a worthless rant.

1. I see. We only want to present our fixes using this proxy system (for security reasons) and therefore I see no option other then to implement a more advanced system to handle the downloads, the thing is we can't really decide on how to...

2. I do, some sections we deliberately hide from guests, there has to be some motivation to register...

3. Posts and topics created by new members aren't hidden by default here because we've got a very active staff and most spam is spotted within 15 minutes from posting (we've had an occasional spam message which stayed for more than a day, because no one seemed to be interested in reading the topic  :P). Allowing guests to post in more sections is just not what we'd like, we'd like users to register.

4. Then I guess that's the price you will, or will not, have to pay :( Many sites in the same corner of the net as ours require registration to even view the board index, I'd say we're fairly 'open' to guests already.

Obviously all suggestions are taken in good light, because we're all just trying to improve this, already great, community :)

It's just that some of your suggestions (the ones relating to guests privileges) aren't in sync with some of the things we want...

When I get back from, yet another :sneaky:, vacation I'll try to have a look at some more possibilities. (Cookies seem to be the way to go, maybe we can code something that will decrease the wait time from 20 to 5 or 2 minutes if you have a cookie (which you'll only get on the index or something).)

Thanks .. Yes you are great!

But I'm having a little problem,

SOMETIMES FILE HOSTING SITES cause a lot of people problems in downloading files like long time waiting before downloading or slow servers..

I wish you could find a solution or at least deal with the best of those free sites (AWAY FROM RAPID SHARE) I think that media fire is good..

Thanks for your efforts,

Alaa.
