Here are the new emojis coming in iOS 14.2

In January this year, the Unicode Consortium announced a bunch of new emoji characters that are coming this year, and they're right on schedule. With Apple releasing the second developer beta of iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 today. the whole set is unveiled. Naturally, these are specific to Apple's platforms, as each company can design its emoji characters however it wants.

One thing that's new in Emoji 13.0 is the reclassification of a number of characters as gender-neutral. That means that you can have a woman wearing a tuxedo and a man wearing a veil. There's even a gender-neutral version of Santa or Mrs. Claus called Mx Claus.

Of course, inclusivity isn't the only thing that's new. There are several new insects, such as the cockroach and the fly. Emojipedia noted that Apple is continuing to use a realistic design, "for better or worse" when it comes to these insects, while other companies are going with more cartoon-ish looks.

This isn't to be confused with Emoji 13.1, which was actually announced earlier this month. It's meant to be a sort of replacement for Emoji 14, which is delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

iOS 14.2 will likely ship out to users next month.
