Nsane Forums Is Preventing Computer From Automatically Sleeping

Hi.

I have been investigating this for a while to try and establish what was preventing my computers from automatically sleeping.

I predominantly use Firefox, but it apparently also happens with Chrome and maybe other browsers. But it is definitely happening in Firefox.

The problem is caused by a silent audio stream.
It is not directly an Nsane Forums issue, but an Invision Forums issue.

If you want to see if you are being affected by this issue and test it for yourself, ensure you have an Nsane tab open and then open an elevated Command Prompt or PowerShell and type: powercfg /requests

If you are affected, you should see a message like this.

Quote

An audio stream is currently in use

If you then close the Nsane tab(s), then run the command again, the message should be gone.

Edit: I just tested Chrome, and it doesn't appear to be happening for me in Chrome.

@Stig have you tried a different browser? Also, it could be cache issue from the browser you are using, so try to clear cache and cookies.

Hi Matt.

I just tried that, but there is no change.

I cleared all cache and removed all Nsane cookies.

I'll try another computer again.

What browser are you using and what is the version number of that browser?

Firefox 80.0.1 (64-bit)

Windows 10 64-bit

I just logged in on another computer using a clean installation of Firefox, and it's still happening.

Even after closing the browser?

It must be a Firefox issue.

As I thought it's a browser cache issue, and perhaps there are some bugs in the latest version from Firefox cause this issue.

That image above of powercfg /requests has Firefox running, but without any Nsane tabs.

I'm inclined to think it's something else outside firefox, I'm running waterfox and don't see this issue.

Have a look at this thread by microsoft.

I'm on Win 7 (x64) and using Firefox 80.0.1 (x64).

I just tried the command prompt and I see it happening too!!

Screenshot attached. No, it's disappeared and I'm seeing a message saying I've used up all of the attachment space I'm allowed????

The screenshot was less than 50kb!!!!!!

direct sound or wasapi sound card usage maybe...

A bit for information about this problem can be found on the following forum thread linked below.

I find the most interesting thing about this is that it appears that it only affects Firefox. 😕

PS:

I am just posting this for reference.

As Matt said, use another browser if it concerns you as it doesn't appear that Invision is going to fix it.

It's not Invsion issue like for example if I changed the button colors to red instead of blue and Firefox shows the blue color instead on the red, then it's a Invision bug and needed to be fixed.

You could eliminate some of the factors by logging onto another site using the invision software and comparing results.
