Stats show Microsoft is the third most valuable company

Microsoft has been betting big on the enterprise in the last few years, and while many have criticized the company for more or less ignoring the consumer space, all these efforts paid off.

This is because the software giant has become one of the most valuable companies in the world, all thanks to these investments in the enterprise, with cloud-powered products like Azure, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Teams now bringing home the bacon.

All the efforts that Microsoft has made lately have also improved the brand overall, and according to a new report from BrandZ, the software giant improved so much that it finally managed to overtake long-term rival Google.

At this point, Amazon is more or less surprisingly the number one, with a brand value of $415 billion. Many would have expected Apple to be the leader, but worry not, as the iPhone maker is the runner-up with a brand value estimated at $352 billion.

Consumer-oriented improvements

The good news is that Microsoft isn’t far either, as its brand value is said to be worth $326 billion.

“Corporate cultural change, open systems, and the growth of its cloud business helped generate a 30 percent increase in value for Microsoft that pushed the brand up one slot in the ranking to No. 3, just after Apple, swapping places with Google, which was impacted by declining ad revenue related to Covid-19,” the report says.

Microsoft is becoming more active in the consumer space too, with the company getting ready to purchase Internet sensation TikTok. At the same time, Microsoft has recently announced the Surface Duo, a dual-screen Android device that will be available from $1,399 and which helps the company return to the smartphone market after previously killing off both Windows 10 Mobile and its Lumia lineup of phones.
