I don't know if it's the best program for you, but I'm pretty sure Goldwave can do it.

Do you mean you have mp3 files containing several songs and want to separate them according to the songs?

Or remove extras you don't want to keep?

Hi Karamjit, i too have just discovered a lot of MP3 files are uploaded as one large file containing multiple tracks. So i am also looking for an answer as to the best way to extract individual tracks from one large file.

Just did preliminary research, but haven't tried any software yet.

A quick search revealed Audacity, Wavepad Audio File Splitter, MP3Splt, and Filmora Video Editor are a few of the options that claim to work to extract tracks. When i find time, i will look at Audacity and Flimora as my first two choices.

I would think that MP3 Toolkit, Other video editors, Zortam MP3 Media Studio, NCH Wavepad Sound Editor, Goldwave Sound Editor, Recording Studios, such as Acoustica Mixcraft, etc. would all be capable of getting the job done.

As to which is the easiest, most reliable with the best features I wouldn't know, because I have not tried any as of yet.

Perhaps another member who has some experience might share their thoughts?

Best Regards

PP

I use audio cutters to remove silence from (so called) hidden tracks on albums.

I hate hidden tracks where they leave a few minutes of silence before playing the last track.

There are some very good online audio cutters and joiners. I don't join. I only cut.

123apps has a whole range of cutters, joiners and converters.

Aconvert.com is another good one.

Of course, there is Audacity if you want an installed app.

There is also PCWinSoft Audio Split & Trim that was posted on the forum somewhere.

Audacity if you want an installed app

Tried Acoustica Premium and Audacity. Both have options to automatically find the silence between songs and automatically split out the tracks for you. In theory sounds pretty good. But when your file has short silence between songs, neither does a good job. So have to roll up your sleeves and extract tracks manually. I find Audacity much cleaner and easier to use to split out the tracks manually. I won't try an other programs becasue Audacity was easy enough to use for me. And you can find posted on nsane a paf portable file so Audacity can be used without the need to install the program.

Hi Pete.

Do your MP3s come with a cue file? If they are in one large file, they should do.

If so, CUETools is the tool for that. It'll split them all for you.

Hi Stig

I was under the impression only Flac contained cue files? Can cue file be embedded in large MP3 files as well? If so, how do you check to see if the file has cue embedded?

The cue sheet file is a standalone file containing the start and end times of all the tracks.

It does more, but that's the basics for your question. It just automates something that you would have to do manually. A very tedious task that would be.

I see that the Microsoft Store now has Medieval CUE Splitter.

This Windows application has been around for years, but I have never tried this version from the Microsoft Store.

I personally prefer CUETools.

Thanks Stig, I will give this a go. Could you Pm me some sites where you can grab files that come with standalone cue?

There was no standalone file with my download, just the MP3 file.

@Karamjit

@Whoopenstein mentioned Goldwave. a program that I really like because of the simplicity and a pretty good result.
The only thing I use it for is to cut, paste, split, merge mp3. Music and Voices, mostly the latter.

Then we have Diamond Cut, a sickly expensive tool
new install $1,499

Many other tools have been mentioned, certainly nothing wrong with most of them..
but I think nothing can go wrong with either Goldwave or Diamond Cut. 👇

If that doesn't solve your problem, give up .....mp3DirectCut, for open (ctrl + b)

https://mpesch3.de/index.html

All you need to cut your MP3

mp3DirectCut is a fast and extensive audio editor for encoded MP3 and AAC. Without re-encoding directly cut, crop, split and join your tracks, create fades on MP3 and much more. Direct editing saves encoding time and preserves the audio quality of encoded tracks. The built in recorder creates MP3 on the fly. With Cue sheets, Pause detection or Auto cue you can easily divide long files.
