Microsoft Edge is a free web browser based on the Chromium Open Source project and other Open Source software. Anyone who's used Google Chrome will immediately feel right at home with the new Microsoft Edge since both browsers are based on Chromium. Currently, you'll need a 64-bit operating system. On startup, you can import your links, favorites, and settings when you install. Options are available to customize what you want or don't want, to import as well as the option to sync across devices. The interface is clean and easy to use. The voice options to read a page is a neat feature and works well. Most popular extensions are also available in the Microsoft Store. Microsoft Edge delivers as we hoped and expected with a clean, simple, friendly web browser that we think many people will now gladly use as their default web browser; something very few people wanted with Internet Explorer.

Thanks to zoran for the update.

If you have a 64-bit OS then in any case, always and only 64-bit programs and all other apps, always and absolutely everything only 64-bit.
It's time to forget about all 32-bit systems as soon as possible.
But when it comes to this new Edge, I definitely prefer Chrome.

Don't create illusions for Yourself, then You won't be disappointed later.
This Edge is one of the truly corrupt and awkward Chrome with large amount of Microsoft junk, what again won't work, or at least still not work as should...

Ok , very clear about x86/x64 !

I noticed Chrome being not so "nice"  with the privacy either , makes me hesitating which new browser to install ( IE11 giving more and more compatibility issues........)

It's true that you and no one else have a choice but a Chromium based browser, these are the only ones that work and are regularly updated.
Chrome isn't in any way dangerous to you or your data, so if you're interested in my recommendation, it's Chrome or the new Edge - there's just nothing else that would work on Windows OP.
If You have a Mac, you can also use Safari.

Download Chrome from this site (and if possible, not anywhere else).

For edge was link posted above.

I find it a big nope , not possible to make easy shortcuts to desktop in Edge , also when opening the favorites-page , in Edge, Im getting the favorites almost all over my screen , In IE11 nice in a row from up to down.

IE11 has a big advantage , easy making shortcuts !

Is this also possible in Chrome , easy rightclick for making a shortcut to desktop ?

Absolutely, yes You can if Chrome is set as your default browser,
all direct links on the desktop are always opened using the default browser.

 If you want to use other browsers instead of default browser, you have to choose from the drop-down menu desired browser or use such a method:
For example, for Chrome

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" https://www.nsaneforums.com/discover/15/?view=condensed

" " marks are mandatory, if the path contains spaces, space between browser path and wesite path is mandatory.
ie the full path to browser .exe and the the full path to desired website

They are identical, but enterprise allows You to use local group policy, but is not mandatory to use. So I personally recommend select what You want, but I cannot see any reason to make restrictions to Yourself.

So they both have the same options ...........I think I go for the standard ( no enterprise ) , will try soon !

I appreciate your help and knowledge.............:)

    Why not try Edge if you want, you can always delete and go with Chrome.  As for myself I didn't care for Chrome. I guess it all depends on what your used to.  I've been using Edge for what seems like 2 or three years and I like it.  Try them all and you might even find one you like better you might even go with Firefox.

I think it's just a personal perception. For myself I like edge more than chrome. But I also like to hear what is work on chrome that is not on edge, since both basically made from same code.

  1. Here cannot be any personal perception, but only how things really work.
    If someone likes something more or less, it does not mean that this pleasant thing works better or worse;
  2. they only have the source code and the working principle is the same;
  3. it doesn't mean nothing what somebody likes or what somebody thinks, means how things work.

X64, absolutely, no question;  keep everything 64 bit.

Under Services, the Microsoft Edge Update service exists 2x for me.

Microsoft Edge Update service (edgeupdate) is set to Automatic (Delayed Start)

Microsoft Edge Update Service (edgeupdatem), is set to Manual

The other entries are all the same, i.e. the same path, etc.

Is this ok !?
