i am surprised no one tried to help you regarding this

DAEMON TOOL Lite will not provide the required emulation support

instead of using DAEMON TOOL virtual drive option...use Add SCSI virtual drive option. And then try
again...

look here for better explanation

If you are on Windows 10, just rename OALD9.mdf to OALD9.img or OALD9.iso (Change file extension from .mdf to .img or .iso) and click on OALD9.img, it will get mounted automatically. No need to use Alcohol 120, WincdEMU, UltraISO or Daemon Tools.

It's as simple as that!

yes this trick will work but for installation only

using this method you will not able to authenticate the disc protection

I tried this on my PC and it authenticated the disc protection as well without any issues.  You can also try this on your side. OALD will treat it as a real disc so no issues in authentication. This trick is confirmed working for authenticating the disc protection as well.

This might be slightly off-topic, but I would actually suggest not using OALD9 discs at all. Get yourself a proper dictionary software like GoldenDict, and load it full of goodies. Here's how mine looks below. The audio works, as well as the illustrations.

I am on Windows 10 version 2004, and it's working for me without issues.

it means the trick works on windows 10 version 2004 and do not work on windows 10 1904.

I thin it should work on all versions of Windows 10. Not just version 2004.

You should keep the .img file mounted while running the software for the first time after installation. It will work fine afterwards.

@vefiyo I found this modified .exe file on the web. I believe that this is what I used before switching to GoldenDict. For what it's worth, I scanned it with ESET and Hitman Pro on my machine and they found nothing. There was only one red flag on VirusTotal. Still, be careful if you decide to try it out.

Could it be blocked? I just re-checked it, and it works.

Regardless, I uploaded it on a different host:

It's been a while, but did you make sure to uninstall Daemon Tools beforehand? I remember they use the same SPTD drivers, but I don't think they can be installed simultaneously.

Yes. Uninstalled daemontools lite.using iobit uninstaller. it also deleted registry entries. Restarted several times.

Installed Alcohol 120% and the above error appeared.

I remember that Alcohol 120% had some issues with an older build of Windows 10, I don't remember which build that was. Maybe that's part of the problem.

as far as i know there is no cracked exe is available for OALD 9 version, cracked exe is available for 8 version

if you are using daemon tools then SPTD driver is required for successful verfication

also working with alcohol setup

@nOkialpha @vefiyo

Well, I couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right, so I tried it for myself. Don't know what to tell you guys. Works perfectly for me. Here's what I did:

1. Downloaded an image file from here.

2. Renamed the .mdf to .iso, and opened through Windows Explorer.

3. Ran setup as Admin.

4. Before running anything, I replaced the original .exe with the one I provided.

5. Ejected disk.

6. It works.

As you can hopefully see from my screenshot, nothing is mounted, and yet the dictionary is running. I do have Alcohol 120% on my system, but it wasn't used for this install. It could be that the disc image itself was modified, but I doubt it.
