1. Select "Do Not Remind Me Again" Checkbox

Getting rid of these annoying notifications is easy. When the notification window appears again in your Windows 7 PC, just select and enable "Do not remind me again" checkbox given at the bottom-left corner of the notification window and then click on Close button to cancel the notification message window.

Now Windows 7 will remember your choice and will stop showing those irritating End of Support notifications to you.

2. Disable Notifications Using Registry Editor

If above mentioned method doesn't work for you or you don't want to wait for the notification message to appear again on your computer screen, you can modify Windows Registry to disable these notification messages.

1. Press WIN+R keys together to launch RUN dialog box. Now type regedit in RUN and press Enter. It'll open Registry Editor.

2. Now go to following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SipNotify

3. In right-side pane, double-click on DontRemindMe DWORD and change its value to 1

That's it. It'll block Windows 7 from showing End of Support notification messages to you.

3. Delete Scheduled Tasks Which Show End of Support Notifications

There are 2 scheduled tasks in Windows 7 which execute SipNotify.exe file to display End of Support notifications and reminders to users. We can delete those tasks which will stop Windows 7 to show those notifications.

1. Press WIN+R keys together to launch RUN dialog box, then type taskschd.msc in RUN box and press Enter.

2. It'll open Task Scheduler program. Now click on "Task Scheduler Library" in left-sidebar and go to "Microsoft -> Windows -> End of Support" folder.

3. In right-side pane, you'll see 2 tasks: Notify1 and Notify2.

Right-click on both tasks Notify1 and Notify2 one by one and select Disable option.

That's it. It'll disable the scheduled tasks and Windows 7 will stop showing those notification messages. You can also select Delete option from the context menu to permanently delete those tasks.

4. Delete or Rename SipNotify.exe File

You can also delete or rename "SipNotify.exe" file present in "C:\Windows\System32\" folder so that Windows can't find and launch the executable file. This is the main executable file which shows the Windows 7 End of Support notification message to users.

Once you delete or rename the EXE file, you'll not get those End of Support nag screens any more in your Windows 7 computer.

5. Uninstall KB4493132 Update

As last option, you can uninstall KB4493132 update which actually brought the End of Support notification message to your Windows 7 computer. Once you uninstall and remove the update, it'll automatically delete SipNotify.exe file and related folders, Registry keys and scheduled tasks which will permanently stop those irritating notifications appearing on your computer screen.

1. Open Control Panel and change View by type to Large icons. Now click on Programs and Features icon and then click on View installed updates link present in the left sidebar.

2. Now scroll down a little and look for following update:

  • KB4493132

3. Once you find the update, right-click on the update and select Uninstall option. Alternatively, you can double-click on the update to directly uninstall it or click on Uninstall button present in the toolbar.

4. That's it. It'll require a restart. After restarting you'll never receive those annoying End of Support notifications in your Windows 7 computer.

IMPORTANT NOTE: After restarting check for new updates again using Windows Updates. Once it finds KB4493132 update again, right-click on the update and select Hide Update option. It'll hide the update and you'll no longer receive this update again in future.

PS: If you can't find the update KB4493132 listed in "View installed updates" screen, you can uninstall the update directly using following command in Command Prompt or RUN dialog box:

wusa /uninstall /kb:4493132

The command will automatically search for the update and will uninstall it.

Disable the Windows 7 end of support popup

  2. If an UAC prompt is displayed, confirm it.
  3. Navigate to the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\EOSNotify

Selecting "don't remind me again" will set the DiscontinueEOS value to 1.

instead of using HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\EOSNotify, use this key for disabling it system-wide instead of just the current user (as I found out from abbodi who confirmed this worked):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\EOSNotify
