Etcher 1.5.71

Etcher is a free and open-source utility used for burning image files such as .iso and .img files, as well as zipped folders to create live SD cards and USB flash drives. It is just  a simple 3-step process: simply select the OS image file you want to use (.iso, zip, .bin etc.), specify the drive and hit flash to start the process.

Etcher provides you with a useful Open Source cross-platform image burner for SD cards and USB drives. Etcher fully subscribes to K.I.S.S format making operation easy for any skill level. This stripped-down utility is designed with a simple UI that allows quick and easy image burning. Just select your image, the drive, then hit Flash!, and you are done. The program also includes validation so no surprises at boot time.

The program fully supports most common disk image formats, including iso, zip, bin, bz2, dmg, dsk, iso, etch, gz, hddimg, img, raw, rpi-sdimg, sdcard and xz.

Besides being open source (Made with JS, HTML, node.js and Electron. Dive in and contribute!) and having an impressive interface, its functionality is praiseworthy as well. If you have ever attempted to boot off of a corrupted card then you certainly know the frustration. Etcher automatically checks the SD card or drive to make sure it is not corrupt, validates the image file to make sure it is bootable and also makes sure that you do not accidentally wipe your system drive.

Etcher is one of the popular programs in its category.

i'm not affiliated with the company nor programmers of

this program.

etcher has older bootloaders in it so if you are trying to

install different (older) linux versions you're not limited

to install it.

rufus etc seems to have the latest version only.

hence: if your online rufus gives you the option to download

right bootloader.

Applications like win32diskimager2 or imageusb work fine and are a looooot smaller. Portable etcher is almost 250MB.
