Anti-Spam for Outlook 365? (2016 or 2019)

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for something to manage spam better than the default tools in Outlook 365. I'd prefer free, but I guess everything can be if you know what I mean :)

What does everyone here use?

If you are willing to pay, many users recommend SpamBully (https://spambully.com/).

For free option you could use MailWasher (https://www.mailwasher.net) or SPAMfighter (https://www.spamfighter.com/); they both do a great job.

Inertia. In the business world, it has a whole lot of that. Once you spend a decade or two with this PIM (and that's what it is, really, since it includes calendar, tasks, etc), it's hard to leave, especially if your business uses Office 365 overall.

As for spam, that situation has gone to hell in the last several months on the consumer side (Outlook.com), but on the business side, for whatever reason, it hasn't. Even though both services use Exchange Online on the back-end.

Outlook 365 can be used with either, so it's unclear which situation (consumer or business) OP is in.

I could leave Office 365 tomorrow and go back to Thunderbird. I have my own email servers, but I'm looking for something for the client side. Spam Assassin isn't cutting it, so I'm looking to supplement it.

I will definitely check out your recommendations. Surely there's a fix for Spambully floating around.

Both. I use Office 365 for business and a few personal accounts. If there was a better spam solution for Thunderbird, I'd use that. I ultimately have 365 because I have two University students at home and got an amazing deal through their Student Union office. I think it cost $30 for the year and we can install on a total of 10 devices (Two devices per user of the 5 allowed). I renew it every year.

Could you explain to me why should some a normal person who have common sense should use something like Outlook 365 at all?

There are a lot of handy tools for Outlook that make repetitive tasks easy. Stuff from Ablebits is fantastic, but I have found addons for Thunderbird that will somewhat replace them.

@Webkikr Have you seen a spam spike with the commercial account, too? That would be interesting to know. I'm involved with a small company that uses Office 365 (commercial, of course), but haven't seen a change there.

OTOH, my personal account has been suffering since October, and it's not just me:
