How long are attached pictures alive?

Hi,

I often delete the 'Attachments' files. Some deleted pictures can still be seen, some cannot be seen anymore (not found, 404).

Both the following were deleted from "Attachments":

https://www.nsaneforums.com/uploads/monthly_2020_01/2147.jpg.438909253077906357ba826d1287e915.jpg, can be seen.

https://www.nsaneforums.com/uploads/monthly_2020_01/yall.png.e0a68346e37bb3af9958a2e3982ea726.png, cannot be seen.

Wondering how long can they be seen after the deletion, is there a cache or something to keep deleted files still visible, etc.?

Because users have only some attachments as maximum (me 10 MB) and clean them sometimes.

2 MB attachment limit here.

It's not about the amount of space, it's about how long the pics are visible after being deleted 😉

If the space seems too limited, one can obviously use services like imgur (https://www.nsaneforums.com/topic/339206-you-can-only-upload-a-total-of-0mb/).

In that case how can this be set by the user?

In the OP there is an example of two files deleted from the 'My Attachments', no clue about why one remains visible within the forum while the other cannot be found :dunno:

1. My attachments -> Mark them -> Trashcan / Delete
2. And maybe only you see them in your own browser caches, try to clean them and then they're double gone. ;)

We never delete any attachment, and we still have files for members on the servers from 2005.
