Wondering why so much interest for The Bat! when the same company makes a portable version with encrypted mail folders "The Bat! Voyager" that can be launched from any USB or portable media on any computer running Microsoft Windows?

Because most real email users still not use mobile devices and not need USB sticks or such, they prefer safe systems and all mails only saved there. :coolwink:

Reference about mobile/USB sticks is from the company site, Voyager works very well from system drives ;)

:D

One can 'voyage' with a laptop, indeed bigger and heavier than a stick.

The point is that it's already portable and encrypted. Just extra info for potential users who prefer portables instead of installed apps ;)

And again... REAL safe systems never use such, sticks etc are banned anyway. So also no laptops usually. :coolwink:

I always used a portable Thunderbird for many years - I could reinstall, image and restore the OS as much as I wanted without interfering with my emails as it was on a different partition.

The Bat Voyager, although portable, has the very annoying "feature" where you MUST enter a master password each time you open the program 🤬

(I use the bat installed these days as the mails can be stored wherever you like - not as nice as a true portable but sufficient)

Well... it's a feature that I do like. Different people, different needs, different tastes ;)

I am using v8.8.2. Will the medicine that worked for this version work for this newer version?

My only misgiving with the enforced password entry is that it's not possible to have the option of turning it off.

(eg: for home use on a secure pc checking emails many times a day not wanting to leave the program open pernanently)

But this option not needed at all in TheBat!, for that has already Windows itself user accounts and folders can be encrypt to the user. And also BitLocker etc...

A safe system would NEVER use a shared account!

Just downloaded The Bat! Professional Edition 8.8.9 from the above link. But after install cannot get it to register with the patch.

Get the following error message:

File is not correct patching!
Possible bugs are not completely removed 😞

I must be doing something wrong, just don't know what. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the reply maia, but the photo does not explain in what order to use the patch. Do you need to patch first then run keygen or the opposite way? Sorry for the questions, just first time installing The Bat! .

@Jennifer_15

This is the Install route I took in windows 7.

1. Install The Bat!  (Didnt run at the end though probably doesnt matter if you do Just close it if running)

2. Run the The Patch with admin rights  and 1st select Patch.  Locate where you installed The Bat! and select its exe file.  If all goes well you get a popup window from the patcher confirming it.

3. Now select Keygen.  You can change the name if you like to yours where it says "SeVeN / FFF".  click Copy to Clipboard.

4. Now I ran The Bat!.  On first run it asked be for the email account details etc which I entered.  For some reason onced I entered the main password it didnt open its main window and I had to task manager and kill the process.  All was good once I ran it again and then went to the Top Menus - HELP / ENTER REGISTRY CODE.  Paste the info from the clipboard into the box and click ok.

5. All done, you're good to go.

Hope this helps you out.

I have retested the patch and keygen included in Maia's post and can confirm it doesnt work on the 32 bit version of The Bat.  I get the same error as Jennifer_15.

Seems it only works for the 64 bit version.
