akks-mtb
[Update] Mozilla has provided a preliminary update that will create a new intermediate certificate with the same name / key but an updated validity period. Mozilla continues to work to solve the problem completely. Downloaded the file and then used the Firefox File menu / Open File... to open it, then agreed to the prompt. Everything look OK now. List of extensions looks right and nothing about legacy extensions mentioned.

Mine's 9,545 bytes in size. I right-clicked on the link and used "Save Link As...". Try adding a ".zip" file extension to it and opening it with your favourite archiving program, any errors? Xpi files are just disguised zip archives. (Remember to change the file extension back again.)

Don't know much about FF studies, but your screenie shows it to be active, probably a good sign. If FF isn't back to normal yet, perhaps the study needs to do more and move to Completed Studies. Karlston, thanks for yourposts...while I was grumbling and moaning and trying to remember what to do with an xpi file, I went to Google and found the answer to that. I dragged the xpi file into the add-ons list and everything is back to normal...add-ons and themes restored!! I'm so happy I might make love to my wife tonight....well maybe not that happy!!!😀😀😀 3 minutes ago, cosy said: Check the link properly, it is still "alive" and just make those temporary hacks and you are back It's ok cosy...see my post to Karlston above....thanks for the link, it worked in JDownloader and everything working fine now.😀😀😀

steven36
Using normandy server hotfix work for me too but what is more disturbing were hotfix is hosted at google ! https://storage.googleapis.com/ When we install add-ons or extensions, are these hosted on google servers? If Google knows everything you install why even use Firefox? And why is Mozilla being stupid and giving everyone the run around and telling everyone to enable studies when they have a addon you can install to fix it? Karlston
Had a quick look around the net so this is only an educated guess... The .xpi file was put together by a Firefox user who found and borrowed the code that Mozilla was deploying via the Studies method. Executing the .xpi applies the fix immediately, the Studies method may take "up to 6 hours". Quote This is the fix Mozilla has published to be installed via shield studies, but skipping the shield studies part. You can be sure it's not malicious because it is signed by Mozilla... and if your browser installed unsigned extensions you wouldn't be looking for this solution in the first place. Reference: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=19826903 (1st post) So the reason it's on a Google site is because that's where the user put it. Oh, and .xpi's don't have to be addons, they can (I think) run any code they contain. In this case the code just bumped the certificate's expiry date so that it became current again. Usually Add-ons are hosted at "addons.cdn.mozilla.net" Thing is i have stuff in my host file that block telemetry at Mozilla and Google were studies won't work all that normandy server stuff is in privacy for a reason , same as when i'm on Windows , Windows 10 FW Control blocks telemetry so they just being stupid telling people to enable studies. i would not fixed it tell i came to this page https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/bkp994/mozilla_addons_blog_update_regarding_addons_in/

Mozilla probably reasoned that doing a few option tweaks was easiest, albeit slower, for non-technical users. But yes, they should also have provided a .xpi or similar for technical users and those who block studies. Some evidence that the xpi was from a third-party... https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/60916
