Windows 10 April 2018 Update continues to be the number one Windows 10 version out there, despite the October 2018 Update now broadly available, so this article likely concerns quite a lot of users.

March 12 marks this month’s Patch Tuesday rollout, so all Windows 10 versions are getting new cumulative updates that are specifically aimed at resolving security flaws in the operating system.

Windows 10 April 2018 Update, also known as version 1803, makes no exception, so users can now head over to Windows Update to download KB4489868.

This update increases the OS build number to 17134.648 and comes with several important changes, all of which are embedded in the box at the end of the article.Security fixesBut the most important thing is that it resolves security issues in Windows 10 and the native browsers (Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer), but also in other modules like the Windows kernel and the Scripting engine.

There are several non-security fixes in this cumulative update, and while the full release notes are available below, there is one worth highlighting.

For example, cumulative update KB4489868 resolves an issue that was previously introduced by an older patch and which led to an error 1309 when installing or uninstall certain types of MSI and MSP files, as Microsoft itself explained.

At the time of writing this article, I’m not aware of any failed installs, and I’m pretty sure there are many users out there concerned that KB4489868 could experience such a problem. This has more or less become a common thing for cumulative updates, but it seems this isn’t the case with the update.

However, I’ll keep an eye on any potential problem that could be experienced by users installing this update, so circle back soon to see if installing KB4489868 is a go or not.
