Opera Browser Updated with Google Chrome Security Fix 

Opera has just received a new update that provides users with the security update that Google also included in the latest Chrome version.

Opera 58.0.3135.90 is thus available on all supported desktop platforms, and it comes with rather minor changes besides the aforementioned security fix.

Discovered in late February, the vulnerability was patched by Google on March 1 with Chrome 72.0.3626.121. The flaw was already targeted by exploits, and Google urged everyone to update as soon as possible.

“Google is aware of reports that an exploit for CVE-2019-5786 exists in the wild,” Google said in its update announcement.

Clement Lecigne, Threat Analysis Group, also recommended users to manually check if the latest version of the browser is installed.

“To remediate the Chrome vulnerability (CVE-2019-5786), Google released an update for all Chrome platforms on March 1; this update was pushed through Chrome auto-update. We encourage users to verify that Chrome auto-update has already updated Chrome to 72.0.3626.121 or later,” he says.Make sure you update as soon as possibleThe same recommendations are valid for Opera browsers too, so you need to make sure that you are running version 58.0.3135.90 or newer. In addition to this security fix, the new version of Opera also comes with improvements for the macOS browser, as the developing team managed to fix the full screen mode and the toolbar is now visible when enabling this feature on Apple’s devices.
