I'm having trouble setting the Office OUTLOOK to default.

Hello everyone.

I'm having trouble setting the Office OUTLOOK to default.

 

I have the Windows 10 PRO x64 Workstation installed, version 1809.

I have Microsoft Office PRO PLUS 2019 x86 installed.

 

I've always had Outlook as the default program.

Without realizing it and when, this program was changed by the Mail of Windows 10.

 

I Attempts to change:

1)

DISM / Online / Cleanup-Image / ScanHealth

RESULT:

Component storage is repairable.

2)

SFC / SCANNOW

RESULT:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupted files but could not fix some of them.

For online repairs, the details are included in the CBS log file located at: windir \ Logs \ CBS \ CBS.log.

ANNEX: CBS file.

3)

I performed the repair online, without success.

4)

I go to the default programs and I change to Outlook; but without success, the change is not effective.

5)

I saved on the desktop an email and I went to open it with, chose Outlook, opened it with this, but, without success, did not change the default.

I may need to make the change to the system registry (Regedit), but I do not know how or where.

Can someone help me?

I go to the default programs and I change to Outlook; but without success, the change is not effective.

Is it correct?

Open control panel < default programs < then follow the steps as mentioned below:

 

Click on Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
 

Make sure Default apps is selected from the menu under Apps (left-hand side). Scroll all the way down and click on Choose default apps by protocol.
 

Scroll down in the list of protocols until you find a MAILTO entry. Then, double-click it to choose from multiple options.
 

Select your Outlook program from the pop-up menu.

no it is not correct

both installation belongs to same languagepack(pt) and same version remove one of them

if your are trying to install different languagepack/proofingtool then it will look something like this

Following the instructions:
Predefined Applications » Select Applications Predefined by Protocol » MAILTO: without success.
I also tried: To define predefined by application » MAILTO: without success.

Run sfc /scannow command again and then repair the office application (online)

I do not know how to parse this CBS file.
I think this file has the solution.

if online repairing not working for you then do a offline repair using your windows 10 DVD/ISO

mount your windows 10, note down drive letter

open cmd as admin

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:d:\sources\install.wim /LimitAccess

d=drive letter of your windows 10 dvd

i assume, windows10 dvd/iso is not a multi-edition one

Go to the file location < open it with notepad < go through it, you will see the error there.

Then , manually you can replace the corrupt file etc..( only if you have the source)

Yes.

 

But ,most of the times, online repair works

In the meantime, in my search for a solution to the problem, I went to the Winhelponline Page.
Here on this page, with the "FileTypeDiag" program, I generated a file and it is available here:

I do not know how to interpret this file, just like the CBS file.

FileTypeDiag is tool to help diagnose problems or differences with file-types on different machines.

 

And I guess you are having an issue with the outlook application and not any specific file type or extension.

 

Further, I haven’t used this tool, so won’t be able to comment on that.

hello melgas

install.wim file is present inside windows ISO in sources folder. Its a huge file and impossible to upload it manually

 if you have windows10 ISO file then open it using explorer or winrar then goto sources folder then extract the install.wim file

now perform offline repair using install.wim

 

it is better to perform online/offline repair in safe mode

there is no space between Windows 10 Pro x64 1809 (October 2018) & \sources

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:e:\Windows 10 Pro x64 1809 (October 2018)\sources\install.wim /LimitAccess

Hello, "nOkialpha" and "The AchieVer".
I have good information:
- At this moment, when checking, within Outlook, if there were updates, I received the information that yes.
- Started getting the update.
- After receiving, it has closed automatically to apply the update.
- Finished applying the update and reopened normally.
- I went immediately to the default settings and, without doing anything, the Outlook was preset by default.
