Microsoft is continuing to bring back features from its now-deprecated classic Skype app to the new cross-platform client. Yesterday, the company announced that Skype Insiders on Windows can now try merging incoming calls into an ongoing call, which was one of the top requested features for the new Skype desktop app.

The ability to merge an incoming call to an existing call is an essential feature for “prosumers,” including podcasters and radio hosts willing to bring in callers during a live show. For now, the feature is only available in the standalone Skype Insider app for Windows, which is different from the Skype Windows 10 app available in the Microsoft Store. You can download the Skype Insider app on this page, and it also works on Windows 7 and 8 PCs.

Microsoft’s new Skype app may still lack other classic Skype features like a more compact layout and the ability to customize notifications, but the company did introduce some useful additions in the new app like call recording or automatic background blurring in video calls. You can share the feedback with the team and help the team prioritize new features on the Skype Ideas website.
