Samsung Galaxy S11 Could Launch with a Completely Different Name

The recently-released Samsung Galaxy S10 could be the last model to launch under the Galaxy S brand, as the South Korean manufacturer is reportedly planning a major change beginning with the next year.

A report from Korean media indicates that Samsung is looking into different names for the next-generation Galaxy S flagship, as the company believes that staying with the current approach that uses increasing numbers isn’t the best strategy in the long term.

“Samsung is aware that after the S10, people may not like the longer names that will come with two-digit numbers, if we stick to the current system,” a company exec told the Yonhap News Agency.

While details on the alternatives that Samsung is currently considering aren’t available right now, this isn’t the first time we hear that the Galaxy S brand would be rebranded.Note brand to be renamed tooHowever, what’s important to note is that changing the name of the Galaxy S flagship would technically force Samsung to do the same thing for other devices, including the Galaxy Note. The most recent Galaxy Note model is the Note 9, with the Note 10 projected to launch this summer.

Furthermore, Samsung could use a similar strategy for other models in its lineup, like the A series of phones, though today’s report indicates the company is only considering this rebranding for its flagship series of phones.

The next Galaxy S model, which we still refer to as Galaxy S11 until more information is offered, should launch in early 2020, so expect leaks regarding its name to make the rounds in the coming months.

On the other hand, do not expect the next Note to bring any changes in this regard, as Samsung has typically aligned both the name and the features of each Note and Galaxy S release.
