Apple Stops Signing iOS 12.1.2 Firmware to Prohibit Downgrades from iOS 12.1.3 

Apple has stopped signing its older iOS firmware, specifically versions 12.1.1 and 12.1.2, to prohibit downgrades from the latest release, iOS 12.1.3, which the company published a couple of weeks ago.

In an expected move, Apple stopped signing the iOS 12.1.1 and iOS 12.1.2 firmware for supported iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. This means that as of February 5th, 2019, you will no longer be able to downgrade your devices upgraded to the latest iOS 12.1.3 firmware via iTunes or any other method.

While this has a major impact on the jailbreaking community, which usually relies on older iOS firmware to successfully jailbreak devices, Apple only tries to limit the spread of older software on its devices in an attempt to keep iPhone and iPad users secure and provide them with the best available software.

While we usually consider this a good practice from Apple as it forces iPhone and iPad users to update and stay with the latest software version, the company needs to better test their iOS firmware before it lands in the hands of consumers, and iOS 12.1.3 has two major issues reported here and here.The iOS 12.1.4 update is expected to arrive soonThat major FaceTime bug discovered recently made all iPhone and iPad users go nuts, and it's still present in the iOS 12.1.3 firmware, so we're now waiting for Apple to keep its promise and release an emergency update to fix these annoying issue. The update will probably be tagged as iOS 12.1.4 and it is expected to arrive soon.

Until iOS 12.1.4 hits the streets, make sure you turn off FaceTime from Settings and keep an eye on this place to be the first to know when a new iOS version is available so you can update your devices. Meanwhile, Apple is working on the next major release in the iOS 12 series, namely iOS 12.2, which should be out this Spring with more improvements.
