AsusWrt-Merlin has announced the availability of a new firmware package targeted at several ASUS router models, namely version 384.9 Beta 1, which updates wget (1.20), nano (3.2), curl (7.62.0), Chart.js (2.7.3), and dnsmasq (2.80-32-g28cfe36).

In addition to that, the current release adds NFS client support (V2 and V3) for RT-AC86U and RT-AX88U, displays tracked connections on the QoS Stats page (now relabeled Classification), and implements ipsec.postconf and strongswan.postconf scripts.

If applied, version 384.9 Beta 1 will also optimize some JS files to reduce their size, resolve RT-AC86U httpd crashes, fix SSH brute force protection that didn’t work in Dual WAN load balancing mode, and add other changes as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

If you intend to make use of these new enhancements, first know that there are separate installation files compatible with ASUS’ RT-AC3100, RT-AC3200, RT-AC5300, RT-AC68 (R, W, P, U, UF), RT-AC88U, RT-AX88U, RT-AC87( U, R), and RT-AC86U routers.

Therefore, if supported, save the appropriate package for your device model, unzip it, establish a wired connection between the router and your computer, and go to Advanced Settings > Administration > Firmware Upgrade.

Afterward, near the “New Firmware File” section, hit “Choose File” button, navigate and select the .trx file, click “Upload,” and wait patiently as the upgrade is performed.

With this in mind, download AsusWrt-Merlin Router Firmware 384.9 Beta 1 for your specific device, apply it, and always check our website to stay informed when newer versions are available for your device.
