CHAT ABOUT OFFICE ACTIVATION

Hi everyone

Anybody know a work around for my current issue ?

I have a fresh install of W10 on a laptop and need to reinstall Office 2013 home student retail

I have a OPA backup of the original activation.

However on the reinstall it needs the serial before I can actually install the program ?

The issue is any retrieval of the key from the old hard drive / windows install of course only gives you the last 5 digits.

I do not have the full key available.

Most annoying because if I can just reinstall I assume I can input the original activation using OPA

Unfortunately cannot reinstall as stuck at insert key at startup !!!??

😕

Try to Google this key and you will get it

OR

post the last 5 digits here, we may be able to help you to find the key

KMS activation lasts for 180 days at a time but, by default, client computers attempt activation every 7 days.

just to activate it will use their KMS server once.i Dont think in that few sec time anything serious issue it will be.

as not every time it use the server connection when ever we run the office !!

KMS activations are valid for 180 days (activation validity interval). To remain activated, KMS client computers must renew their activation by connecting to the KMS host at least once every 180 days. By default, KMS client computers attempt to renew their activation every seven days.

Hi

Just to update

I found a workaround as follows

installed using a found key on the internet ( probably blacklisted ) allowing me to at least install.

Ensured offline and finished installation.

After install used OPA to import correct and legitimate activation information with correct key ( well last 5 digits  ! )

☺️

Because your system connects to KMS server automatically to activate the office. Who knows what information the remote server may collects from your system in the background. It may be a security issue.

It's a LOCAL server (127.0.0.1) .. jeez!

Maybe, JUST maybe you should at least try to understand the basic mechanics before raising any kind of concerns

regarding security, possible leaks and "Who knows?"

LOCAL as in LOCALHOST as in 127.0.0.1

For your information this is the script of a KMS activation Process I have used some year before to test KMS activation, hope you can understand basic, mechanics, security concern and the meaning of "cscript ospp.vbs /sethst:kms.lotro.cc"

cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office16
echo Setting KMS Host...
cscript ospp.vbs /sethst:kms.lotro.cc
echo Trying KMS Activation...
cscript ospp.vbs /act
echo Removing KMS Host...
cscript ospp.vbs /remhst
cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus
pause

Hello @DR_ADHAM@cosy and all the support...

I have now just tried to install the Language Accessory Pack for Office "setuplanguagepack.x64.nl-nl".

The above installation pack has detected an "Office Pro Plus 2109 32-bit" installed and of course refuses to install it in 64 bits and offers to download its 32-bit version.

I was convinced that My Office was a 64-bit version,  because when installing it didn't ask me not to choose between 32-bit and 64-bit (when possible, I avoid 32-bit program on my 64-bit OS).

Before uninstalling Office Pro Plus 2019 32-bit and reinstalling the 64-bit version, I would like to know if my current activation will be recognized ? 🤔

I have a valid backup of my current key (MSActBackup) and also a copy of the "store" folder.  👍

Thanks in advance for your attention.

@hpwamr

Take note that if you ran the "Setup" file as shown below, it'll automatically install the 32 bit version

To install the 64 bit version, open the "Office" folder and run the "Setup64" installer

Regarding your Q. about activation ---> Don't worry; your product will still be activated.

Try to back up before you completely uninstall it

Hello @DR_ADHAM and @cosy , this little post to inform you that the switch from 32-bit to 64-bit version succeeded without any glitches.   👍

Thanks my friends...  😄
