Hello,

I have Dell PC optiplex 745 which was originally bought with winxp preinstalled on it and I wish to reformat and reinstall windows XP. For that I downloaded the window XP SP3 Iso
I encounter a small problem, when i boot with the usb device and reach the window partition, i create partition and when i launch the installation, i got this blue screen :

sata driver2.JPG

i tried to install xp on this machine by disabing sata configuration or AHCI to IDE but havent found this option on the bios of the machine.

so the only solution which remains is to find the sata disk controller drivers of the motherboard and it's impossible to find them ...

If you could help me to find these sata drivers, i would be grateful

PC config:
-Windows XP Pro 32-bit
-intel genuine CPU 1.60GHz
-Disk hard drive: WDC WD400BD-75MRA3 (40Gb)

You can try an ISO image with SATA drivers preloaded.

Here's a one:

I have this one and installed it on my HP COMPAQ lap long time ago.

Installation encountered no problems at all and worked very fine then.

The link provided should be similar.

@DR_ADHAM

thank you for the reply.

i suppose that every machine needs the right sata drivers which correspond to the disk controller of the motherboard so i need the right sata drivers for this dell model machine so does this iso include sata drivers of all dell model machines ?

Mine was neither OEM nor specific to COMPAQ brand, it's a modified ISO that includes all SATA drivers.

It includes all SATA drivers, but I didn't test it.

You'll never know if you didn't try.

What will you lose !!

Try it & give me your feedback

I've also an OEM DEll XP original image

If necessary ==> I'll upload it for you.

In fact it's for a friend who has this machine and does not manage to install xo on this dell machine.

i found some sata drivers found on the net but any of them works and he still does not manage to get xp installed on this machine.

so i will give him this iso hopping that it's the one that includes the right sata to be able to install xp.

thank you again for the iso, i will report back to tell you if the iso allowed to fix the issue.

@Mehdibleu

Integrating SATA drivers in XP iso is not very difficult.

Here are the steps,

- Download Win xp sp3 iso in your language.

Site: https://pastebin.com
Sharecode: /raw/Hk2RgYzF

- Extract this iso.

- Goto this page and download SATA drivers for xp.

Site: http://driverpacks.net
Sharecode: /driverpacks/latest

- Download this program, and extract it in a separate folder,

Site: http://driverpacks.net
Sharecode: /applications/driverpacks-base/10.06

- Now put the downloaded .7z driver file in,

above extracted 'DriverPacks' folder,

- open DPs_BASE.exe

- follow onscreen instruction, and in 5 minutes it'll properly integrate the drivers.

- Done.

You can learn more about slipstreaming at https://ryanvm.net/forum/index.php

but if you want something readymade, although it's not a good practice, get a properly slipstreamed xp iso,

ATM it seems good,

@DR_ADHAM

so i gave the iso que sent me to my friend but it didn't help, he still gets the same blue screen which appears once the iinstallation is launched.

@WindowsAddict

i managed to integrate the sata drivers in the iso with the procedure you described above and i wanted to test it on an old machine of mine whose xp cannot be installed without sata drivers and it worked perfectly, i created bootable usb device, it booted then detected automatically the sata drivers and i managed to install xp on the machine.

i haven't sent the created xp iso with sata drivers to my friend yet but there is every reason to believe that xp will be installed successfully on his machine too. i will give him the iso soon and we'll see, i will report back to tell you if it is the case.
