I have downloaded the latest dec ISO

1. Sign in to an administrator account in Windows 10.

2. If you have not already, you will need to disable or uninstall any 3rd party AV or security program you have installed first to prevent it from interfering with the upgrade to Windows 10. You can reinstall it after Windows 10 has finished installing.

3. Mount the ISO file.

4. Run the setup.exe file to start Windows 10 Setup.

5. If prompted by UAC, click/tap on Yes

6. Click/tap on Accept for the applicable notices and license terms.

7.Select (dot) Upgrade this PC now, and click/tap on Next

8.Windows 10 will now start downloading.

9.Windows 10 Setup will now start preparing.

10. Select (dot) Download and install updates,

11. At the 'Ready to install' screen you are presented with a summer which includes the task to be completed:

- Install Windows 10 Pro

- Keep Windows Settings, personal files and apps

Click Change what to keep make any necessary adjustments.

Once satisfied, click Install

This should do in-place-upgarde of win 10

Not an issue. Further, it's not necessary to quote the entire post

I thought it was due to a virus however windows defended nor hitmanpro identifies anything so far not unless something got damaged earlier as I was hit by some viruses but windows defender detected them and deleted them

mbm detected 32 adware and few trojans and quarantined them however the issue still persists, after the pc restarted there was a splash of 4 to 5 commands prompt screens which either is mbm doing something or its some wicked virus in hidden somewhere because cmd still does not open

You could try checking for any suspicious program(s) that run at Startup (in my case, it was very easy to identify that). Simply use Task Manager.

Edit:

I did that in Safe Mode on Win 7.

agree with you though its tricky with windows 10 as there r many services that runs in the background; I uninstalled one software by mistake while doing this which might be the only way to solve the issue

Go to main folder.

Then, search a file called cmd . exe. Click on it. If it still does not run, right click on it and click Run as Administrator and see if it works there.

@mjall

You need to perform in-place-upgrade, as you system is severely infected.

With Regards to the settings and applications installed, it will maintain a status quo.

after the stuff we tried last day, i noticed now while restarting the pc, something is executing 3 cmd windows and they close quickly when windows start, I can't read any text in the windows so I definitely believe there is an infection but one bastard which is not getting recognized by any of the anti-malware or anti-virus software, trying stinger now, lets c if it finds something otherwise my only option is to perform the upgrade as u suggested

@mjall

In-place-upgrade is the best option for you, the windows will have new installation with your current settings and apps.

I suggest that you backup your important documents and just do a fresh install. This way, there will be no remnant of any malware.

Make sure to format your hard drive before doing a fresh install.

I think I will eventually go down this path

does any of the below look suspicious to you guys and should I delete those in yellow claiming not to be found, I guess ccleaner is not doing a good job lately :) other than that, I couldn't spot anything else suspicious

or does this screen help, are those cmd entries legit for windows or should I delete them?

signed Windows entries are hidden

remember that red entries are not signed, hence suspicious

Check your registry entry, the value names should be like this

If there is a new value  name in there then it could be the culprit

You can safely delete the entries which are marked yellow.

So I guess no issue with the commands

What Windows edition/version are you running now/

When does this issue start happening, does this happen after updating your Windows?
