Microsoft Whiteboard adds background and pen options, keyboard compatibility

Over a month ago, Microsoft said it would be adding new background options to its collaborative Whiteboard app, as fans had been asking for a dark mode for it. Now, the company is delivering on that promise with the latest update for the Windows 10 and iOS versions of the app.

The update adds significantly more than new background colors, though. For starters, there's also a variety of grids you can add to the background. There's a total of nine grids and nine background colors, which can be combined at the user's discretion.

There are new customization options for the pen too, with an additional 10 colors to choose from and three levels of thickness for the ink. This should enable users to represent ideas more freely and creatively. And speaking of freedom, you're no longer confined to a touchscreen or a mouse if you want to jot down some notes on the board. The app now supports text input using a keyboard, so those without a touchscreen should have a much easier time with the app.

As mentioned above, the changes are now rolling out to the Windows 10 and iOS apps, with no mention of the web version that launched back in September. Despite being promised back in August, an Android version of the app is also nowhere to be found.
