Latest version improves the “Go Premium” experience

The latest OneDrive update for iOS isn’t necessarily supposed to refine your experience with the app, but actually make it easier to purchase storage plans from within the OneDrive client.

The official OneDrive app for iPhones and iPads gets updates regularly, and version 10.42.3 comes with two different improvements.

The first one is meant to simplify the process of purchasing additional storage from Microsoft, so now getting a new plan right from within the app should be much faster. Microsoft explains:

“Several accessibility improvements were made to the Premium purchase experience. Now, when you are in the switch user account menu, swipe navigation will navigate to Go Premium button. Also, when on the Premium plans page, the plans slider will update to read selected value when you swipe up or down to adjust the value.”

Annotation improvements

Needless to say, this isn’t really something really exciting for free users or those who have no plans to purchase additional storage for OneDrive. However, there’s also a second improvement that refines PDF annotation in OneDrive, and Microsoft says the update is based on user feedback.

“We hear your feedback and are working hard to improve our PDF annotation experience. In this release, we now support 0.5pt width inking, and you can now navigate, while in annotation mode, by using two fingers,” the company explains.

If you’re running an old version of the application, you should know that the previous release, namely 10.41.2, brought a much more important change to the OneDrive client. The update fixed a bug that occasionally crashed the app when tapping a sharing notification. Microsoft fixed the behavior, making the OneDrive app actually open the shared file and preventing the crashes from occurring.
