New preview now available for Office insiders

Microsoft continues the work on a new feature update for the Microsoft Office productivity suite, and today the company is pushing a new preview build to users participating in the Office Insider program.

Now at version 1811 build 11029.20045, the preview is available for download for Office 365 subscribers on Windows and allows them to try out new improvements ahead of the planned global rollout due in the coming weeks.

There are two important changes in this new release, and one of them concerns the Outlook email client. Microsoft Outlook has received several major updates lately, and Microsoft continues this trend with the November 2018 update.

Beginning with this release, Outlook users can save zooming options. Previously, the zooming settings were reset when closing the app, and Microsoft is now fixing this.

“Instead of adjusting Zoom each time, you read a message, choose a default setting to use for all your messages,” the company explains in the official release notes.

Microsoft Access refinements

Microsoft Access is also getting some love this month with the introduction of themes. The update brings support for four different themes, namely colorful, dark, gray, and white. As it happens in the case of such updates, more visual styles could be released in the coming months.

There are no improvements for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on Windows in the November update, as Microsoft has focused on just two improvements this month.

You can download the new Office preview build if you’re part of the Insider program from File > Account and then manually check for updates. Obviously, Microsoft recommends users to try out these improvements and then share feedback in order to refine the experience ahead of the public launch.

There’s no ETA as to when all Office 365 subscribers would get the update, but as it happens every month, it should all take just a few weeks.
