It is pointless trying to register IDM software with a serial number alone, let alone one that was calculated with a key generator for a previous major version. The reason is that when blocking IDM's licence verification servers in the Windows 'hosts' file or otherwise, the software is smart enough to assume an intent to circumvent that verification. Consequently, the dynamically linked libraries that are responsible for calling home in order to execute the checks need to be patched. URET's universal Activator 4.2 (July 2018) does no longer work, because the structure/pattern/file size of the protective .dll changed. Consequently, a new crack for the .dll that comes with each and every IDM program is needed to be safe from having one's registration eliminated/blacklisted. The software does not always complain immediately -- with previous major versions, the 'payback' sometimes occurred a full month after registration. IDM change their protection frequently, with nearly every update, which means that most of time, an updated program version also requires an updated crack. Sometimes, a previous registration is upheld if one is lucky and the update a minor one, but to err on the side of caution and be safe in the long run, as a rule of thumb, an updated program requires and updated fix.
