steven36 Posted September 20, 2018 Share Posted September 20, 2018 In a blog post, Microsoft yesterday announced that starting with Windows 10 October 2018 Update, the company plans to deliver new updates for .NET Framework via Cumulative Updates channel. Microsoft will start delivering Cumulative Updates for .NET Framework alongside the Windows 10 Cumulative Updates on Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) devices. Microsoft explains that fixes for .NET Framework will be delivered through a Cumulative Update Channel and this concept will be applied on Windows 10 October 2018 Update and Windows Server 2019. This change should give users more flexibility in installing .NET Framework updates on their Windows 10 computers. .NET Framework cumulative updates will have the following characteristics: Independent – Released separately from the Windows Cumulative Update Cumulative – The latest patch will fully update all .NET Framework versions on your system Same cadence – The Cumulative Update for .NET Framework will be released on the same cadence as Windows 10. If you use Windows Update to keep your devices up to date and you have the automatic updates enabled, you will not notice any difference as both .NET Framework and Cumulative Updates will be installed automatically every month. But if you manage Windows Update manually, the Windows Update will show both Cumulative Updates for .NET Framework and the general Windows 10 monthly cumulative updates. .NET Framework updates will be delivered in the following way: Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) – One Cumulative Update for .NET Framework, alongside the Windows Cumulative Update. Windows 10 April 2018 (version 1803) and earlier versions of Windows 10 – One Windows Cumulative Update (which includes .NET Framework updates), per Windows version.
