Which is the best FREE VPN?

Katzenfreund

Recommended Posts

VPN services are used mainly by pirates to avoid detection. But by their nature, pirates are averse to paying for anything. Hence we are seeking the best free VPN.

Now, we all know that, as provision of the service costs money, the provider has to make money somehow, and consequently no free VPN is perfect. Furthermore, what is best depends on what you want it for. So to facilitate the choice, we specify the purpose of getting torrents.

Criteria would be: speed, choice of locations, volume of data, security from detection, absence of monitoring, absence of adware and ease of use.

Special free offers are acceptable, provided they are for a reasonable period of, say, at least 3 months. But cheap services don’t qualify, as they are not free.

There is no such thing  as a good free VPN ..  We use to have some giveaways  to a OK VPN  at this site .  But not anymore  so for the last  few years I been buying  my VPN.  Around Christmas  I  found a 1 year giveaway  for Avira Phantom VPN because this around the time  mine expires  when there  running  Christmas promos  and it was so slow that i bought a good VPN again.   Even most giveaways  are very limited and  Avira  is to slow for downloading and  streaming  and none ever work for Linux .  When you buy a vpn  they most always give you the stuff to use on Linux . Betternet is the same way as Proton  if you use the  free version they cripple you're speed down too slow.

A good tip for surfing anonymously and bypassing censorship for free.  But as far as I know, you cannot use Google Chrome to download torrents. This was a requirement in the OP.

I'm using Tunnel Bear on Android tablet. It suites my rather limited needs.

It offers good speeds, is very reliable as to the choice of the country (very many are not), and doesn't log any private data.

But it has disadvantages too:

- small free limit of transferred data, and ....

- no P2P traffic.

So it's definitelly NOT what you are looking for @Katzenfreund.

For those who might be interested - here is a Tunnel Bear review

Here are reviews of free vpns topvpnchoice.com/free-vpn/, personally I`ve chosen Hide.me, cos it`s best vpn for gaming. Unfortunately,  it doesn`t give access to watching Netflix, so I have to find one more : /

Does anyone know a better option  of free VPN?

Ain't no thing as the 'best free VPN'. If you want to use a crappy slow service which collects your info and sells it then yeah, sure, use free ones (gotta make business somehow). If you want not very expensive more quality ones check these out:

https://nordvpn.com/

https://goosevpn.com/

https://surfshark.com/

Avira Phantom VPN (free) is good.  For heavy bandwidth users it may not be sufficient.
