At last month's Mobile World Congress, HMD Global unveiled two new Nokia-branded Android smartphones; the lower-end 3, and the mid-range 5. They'll join the more premium Nokia 6, which HMD released in China earlier this year, in what the company described as a 'global' launch in the second quarter of 2017.

HMD wasn't any more specific about its plans at the time - and a vague term like 'global' left plenty of room for interpretation. Many potential buyers were also left wondering if that global launch would include the United States.

HMD has now confirmed that its devices will indeed go on sale in the US, in response to an enquiry on Twitter:

As for its 'global' release, the company hasn't yet provided a full list of countries, but it has offered a clearer indication of the scale of its upcoming launch. In a statement to NPU, HMD said that it "has ambitious plans to release Nokia 3, 5 and 6 in 120 markets at [the] same time in Q2 2017". A UK retailer recently revealed that the handsets are expected to go on sale there in May.

HMD also confirmed last week that it will deliver monthly Android security updates to its devices, along with regular feature updates for the OS.
