Video of leaked Windows 9 build shows off the new Start menu

Earlier today, we got our first look at build 9834 of Windows 9 and in this new video we can see the new Start menu in action. As expected, by adding new tiles to the menu, it will grow in size to accommodate the tiles and brings the Start screen experience to the desktop.

Seeing that this build, which was sent to partners, is outside the walls of Redmond, there is a good chance that it may leak in full. Clearly the folks over at Winfuture.de (site is in German) have their hands on it already.

From this video, we can see that you can turn off the Start menu if you prefer the Start screen.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is still an early build of Windows 9 and many features are still not enabled in this particular build. Before you jump to conclusion that this is what the final product will look like, let us remind you what Windows 8 looked like in its early days.

It is a pity that Windows is not for the people but the people are for Windows.
For people still applies the good old Svejk - Jaws mind and continue to serve ....
Absolutely full democracy.
Of course - we are all excited again about what the Great Dad has donated to us.

Looks like the Start Menu is back with folders under File Explorer even though it shows "Frequent." If not, I'm sure Startisback will be available.

I don't know where all this hate is coming from!

It looks Great in mu humble opinion, this should have been how windows 8 should have been.

For all others, you still have Startisback/Start8

This is what W8 should have been in the first place. I might have liked this change had MS done W8 the way it should have been done to prevent so many users getting upset. I do hope alternative start menus will continue to work though because i am not sure i would like this change from W7 but it's enough to at least download a copy to try it out. Still, i'm not happy with MS and will continue to use Linux.
