Getting Windows 8.1 RTM bits MSDN and TechNet

Starting today, we will extend availability of our current Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 Pro and Windows Server 2012 R2 RTM builds to the developer and IT professional communities via MSDN and TechNet subscriptions. The Windows 8.1 RTM Enterprise edition will be available through MSDN and TechNet for businesses later this month. Additionally, today we’re making available the Visual Studio 2013 Release Candidate which you can download here.

We heard from you that our decision to not initially release Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2 RTM bits was a big challenge for our developer partners as they’re readying new Windows 8.1 apps and for IT professionals who are preparing for Windows 8.1 deployments. We’ve listened, we value your partnership, and we are adjusting based on your feedback. i am using Wzor win 8 and its same as all other "version" , working 100% , and we can trust Wzor for its 8.1 rtm as some ppl found out by comparing ashes :)

What does it mean exactly with this new Windows release & the importance of the shah for someone who isn't a real specialist such as certain computer specialist.

I am French, I always install the US version + language pack.

I think as Windows is before any US OS quality should be better than those translated into different language.

For those who have already installed & activated Windows that should do you.

Format & re install; all over again?

There's still no way to KMS Activate Windows 8.1 from what I have read...

In this moment it's not possible because activation is based on KMS v6, unlike the Windows 8, which is based on KMS v5.

Windows 8.1 Professional now available on DreamSpark

Although not yet listed in the Software catalogue, log in and check to see if it can be downloaded in your region.

This is just one more group that has been given early access ahead of the Oct. 18th general release date following outrage from developers and enthusiasts alike, as well as an internal struggle within Microsoft surrounding the initial staggered release plans.

Update: Apparently this only applies to DreamSpark Premium users
