A passenger jet with 145 people on board is making an emergency landing in Los Angeles after it developed a problem with its landing gear.

The JetBlue flight 292 was bound for New York's John F Kennedy International Airport, from Burbank, California.

"Shortly after the plane took off, the pilot discovered that he may have a landing gear problem," Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Donn Walker said.

Before making the landing the pilot dumped fuel over the sea.

Television images showed the Airbus 320 circling with the front landing gear turned at a 90 degree angle from its normal position.

It's on all major news channels right now. Scary stuff!!! :)

All the people in the airplane were like "OMG its us!!!" so the crew had an extra job of calming the people down because of seeing themselves on tv with broken landing gear. It so happens that JetBlue has had another incident like this. It makes you wonder.

i saw a documentary in national geographic and they said they the plane comapnies don't pay enough money for safety that they prefer not to pay so much money.

they say for example a couple of plane crashes with a couple of hundred ppl die every yr is no big problem comapred to the money.

i only wish that the planes become more advance safer with less crashes coz i would not like to be in a plane and crash and die.

hopefully the plane companies and airports change there attitude.

lucky in the usa they do pay for maintances. btw this airbus serie had 7 other reports of twisted landing gear when trying to pull them up after takeoff. so it looks like a french airbus defect. got to love socialism
