'Bad cable repair' causes gay porn on morning TV show

An Ontario TV station apologizes after airing gay porn during its morning newscast, saying it was having its cables repaired and that the splicing seems to have been imperfect. Can we believe this?

We'll come to the explanation in a minute, but let's bathe in the pathos first.

So there were viewers of CHCH TV in Hamilton, Ontario, munching on their morning croissants and offering one eye to their morning newscast.

Suddenly a collective "eh?" must have been heard all the way in Montreal. For, that morning newscast was interrupted with a show in which naked bodies of the same sex writhed and, well, other things.

This was not a mere glimpse. It was not a blip. The Hollywood Reporter tells me it was three minutes of, well, please turn on your imaginations now.

The official explanation some might find curious.

In an apology, Mike Katrycz, head of CHCH news offered: "This was a problem that originated, not at CHCH, but at a cable company. Apparently some cable lines had been cut, and in the splicing back together some inappropriate content went to air. Again it was beyond the control of CHCH, but we do apologize to our viewers."

Oh, oh, oh.

So a cable company somehow was in possession of the power to override the TV station? No one at the TV station could possibly have turned off the turn-on in under 3 minutes?

Mightn't it have crossed anyone's mind that it's just slightly coincidental that what was transmitted happened to be something lascivious, rather than a rerun of "The Smurfs"?

Might it vaguely be possible that someone, somewhere (not including those on screen) was having a little fun here?

Thankfully for all those who wish their morning news shows fully sanitized, the CRTC -- Canada's broadcasting regulator -- is investigating, as is the cable company, Shaw Cable. (Asked by CNET to comment, Shaw did not respond by publication time.)

This makes America's legendary Super Bowl Nipplegate seem like absolutely nothing. Which, in fact, it was.

So...the same company that airs the news ALSO secretly airs gay porn on some separate wires and they supposedly "accidentally" got spliced in? I hate it when there is clearly more to the story but it either gets covered up OR it doesn't get told in all honesty. Too many things are happening today considering technology that is not being honestly reported about.
