  1. Hem... sorry for the double post... If an admin can delete this one... Hi all. After having searched in many places on the net, I come here to describe my problem (hope I am in the right place) : I am running Windows Seven x64 SR1, Fr language. I installed 3 browsers : Chrome, Opera and Firefox. I (almost) always use Firefox, and old version (52.9.0 esr x86) for I have some extensions that I "need". The problem is : A friend of mine posted a video in his story. When I click to watch it, I only have the sound. The video does not play. I tried with Opera (last version) : same problem. I ran Chrome (last version) : worked fine. I have flash Player PPAPI and NPAPI installed (last versions) I searched solutions and tried many thing but nothing worked... - cleaned my firefox profile (history, cookies...) - uninstall my firefox and installed the last version - uninstalled Flash player and tried an older version (NPAPI, PPAPI) - updated my NVidia drivers to last version No way... Yes, sure, the easiest way is : "you have to use Chrome to open facebook" but I don't like it and don't want to use it. If somebody has a solution... Thank you for your wise answers

  3. Pirate Streaming Site 123Movies Rebrands as GoMovies After several days of downtime, pirate movie streaming site 123movies has renamed itself to GoMovies for a fresh start. With the brand change and a new domain name, the popular site hopes to clearly set itself apart from the many fake sites that surfaced online recently. Pirate movie streaming sites and services continue to gain popularity, with 123movies at the forefront of this trend. However, growth doesn’t always come easy. Over the past week the site has been suffering significant downtime, for unknown reasons. The site eventually returned during the weekend on the domain 123movieshd.to, but that wasn’t the end of the upheaval. Yesterday the site switched to a new home, first renaming itself to Memovies, only to switch to Gomovies a few hours later. While the site’s operators are staying quiet on the exact reason for the downtime, a site representative told TorrentFreak that GoMovies.to will be the site’s official domain, at least for the time being. When asked about the reason for the name change, the representative said that it is in part to set itself apart from the many fake sites and proxies that appeared online recently. The operators grew tired of the many fake sites that ranked very high in search engines with the 123movies brand. With the change, GoMovies will try to regain momentum. The old 123movies.is and 123movies.to domain names are now linking to the new GoMovies one, and the site also confirmed the surprising brand change on its official Twitter account. “We’re back at GoMovies.to – This is our Official Domain – new Home for 123Movies users. Old data remains the same. Please spread.” 123movies / Gomovies on Twitter While GoMovies has a new domain name and logo, the rest of the site is pretty much intact. In fact, most of the references to 123movies are still present on the site, even in the site title and the FAQ section. Although the turbulent week with several days of downtime remains largely unexplained, the site representative hopes that they will remain on the new domain for a while. However, we were told that it’s possible that they will have to change again in the future. In addition to the site’s millions of users, 123movies / GoMovies developments are also being closely watched by copyright holders, who see the site as one of their main targets. Hollywood previously reported the site to the U.S. Government’s Trade Representative, labeling it one of the most “notorious” pirate markets, and the site is blocked by UK ISPs as well. Last week, the US Ambassador to Vietnam turned up the pressure by urging a local minister to prosecute the site’s operators, who allegedly reside there. Update: Perhaps unsurprisingly, at least one of the fake sites has switched to Gomovies already… Beating fake sites might not be as easy as expected. Source
  4. ‘Pirate’ Movie Streaming Sites Declared Legal By Italian Court A Court of Appeal in Rome has overturned a 600,000 euro ruling against four unlicensed sites that offered streaming movies to the public. The Court found that merely providing links does not qualify as distributing files protected by copyright, even though the sites generated revenue via advertising. When it comes to passing judgment on so-called ‘pirate’ sites, Italy has more experience than most around Europe. Courts have passed down many decisions against unlicensed sites which have seen hundreds blocked by ISPs. Today, however, news coming out of the country suggests that the parameters of what defines a pirate site may not be so loosely interpreted in future. It began in 2015 when the operator of four sites that linked to pirated movies was found guilty of copyright infringement by a local court and ordered to pay more almost 600,000 in fines and costs. As a result, filmakers.biz, filmaker.me, filmakerz.org, and cineteka.org all shutdown but in the background, an appeal was filed. The appeal was heard by the Rome Court of Appeal in February and now, through lawyer Fulvio Sarzana who defended the sites’ operator, we hear of a particularly interesting ruling. “The Court ruled that the indication of links does not qualify as making direct disposal of files protected by copyright law,” Sarzana told TF in an email. Often in these kinds of cases, the presence of a financial motivation by a site operator can play a crucial role. In this matter, however, even revenue generation via advertising failed to tip the scales in the prosecution’s favor. “The Judge has recognized as lawful the portals’ activities, and this despite the presence of advertising banners,” Sarzana says. According to the lawyer, it is not enough to simply show that the ‘pirate’ site generates income. The prosecution must also show that profit activity is connected to an individual. If it does not, the sharing aspect could be considered as merely avoiding an expense rather than a for-profit activity designed to generate “significant gain”. In the event, that’s exactly what happened. “In fact, the Judge ruled that file sharing, i.e the sharing of files protected by copyright, is a saving of expense and not a for-profit business. Therefore, in these cases you cannot apply the penal provisions of copyright law and the resulting administrative sanctions,” Sarzana notes. The decision to clear the sites of all charges and overturn the financial penalties against their operator is bound to prove a controversial one, not just locally but across the EU as a whole. Only time will tell how the decision will affect the bigger picture. Meanwhile, the complexities of the case have not been lost on Federico Bagnoli Rossi, Secretary General of the Federation for the Protection of Audiovisual and Multimedia Content (FAPAV). He believes that traditional legal avenues are not the only way to tackle the piracy problem. “We are aware of the difficulties encountered in investigative activities and for this reason we are convinced that intermediaries should assume their responsibilities and work more closely with all parties involved in protecting culture,” Rossi says.
