NetWorx is a simple, yet versatile and powerful tool that helps you objectively evaluate your bandwidth consumption situation. You can use it to collect bandwidth usage data and measure the speed of your Internet or any other network connections. NetWorx can help you identify possible sources of network problems, ensure that you do not exceed the bandwidth limits specified by your ISP, or track down suspicious network activity characteristic of Trojan horses and hacker attacks. The program allows you to monitor all your network connections or just a specific network connection, such as Wireless or Mobile Broadband. The software also features an array of highly customisable visual and sound alerts. You can set it up to alert you when the network connection is down or when some suspicious activity — such as unusually heavy data flow — occurs. It can also automatically disconnect all dial-up connections and shut the system down. The incoming and outgoing traffic is represented on a line chart and logged into a file, so that you can always view statistics about your daily, weekly and monthly bandwidth usage and dial-up duration. Facebook Succeeded In Killing Cybersecurity Like It Did Privacy

Facebook Succeeded In Killing Cybersecurity Like It Did Privacy One of Facebook’s most notable successes over the past decade and a half is the way in which it has so completely upended how we see privacy, teaching an entire planet that privacy is an outdated concept of no relevance to our modern age. Today a quarter of the earth’s population hands their most intimate details over in realtime to a private company to commercialize. Most importantly, those two billion users no longer care when that company shares their data with myriad companies all over the world to misuse or when it loses their data through breach after breach after breach after breach. It seems that like privacy, Facebook has taught the world to no longer care about cybersecurity. As Facebook acknowledged its latest security breach this week, this time affecting up to a quarter of its users and stretching back for half of the company’s existence, the company reminded us that all of its promises to do better after past breaches were merely empty words. Despite employing a literal private army to protect its own privacy and safety, the company appears to care little about the privacy or safety of its two billion users. However, what makes the Facebook story so intriguing is the fact that despite a never-ending string of breach after breach after breach after breach, we don’t leave. In fact, not only are users not leaving Facebook, but the platform is actually growing and reporting record profits after a year of almost weekly stories involving its ability to secure the private data of its users. It is hard to imagine today in 2019 that there was once a time, long ago, that users actually cared about whether companies were keeping their information safe. Incredibly, there was a time when a company that kept suffering non-stop massive security breaches would likely go under as users left in droves and inundated the company with lawsuits. Today each wave of press coverage documenting Facebook’s latest breach is met with a burst of indignant statements from politicians and the public, but after a few days things predictably go right back to normal, without a single change or consequence. Facebook has learned over the years that it does not need to actually invest in cybersecurity because we as a society no longer care if our personal data is breached, whether by hackers or by Facebook itself building tools to help others harvest and misuse our information. For all society’s empty words about security and safety being important, if we keep using the platforms that suffer breach after breach, those companies learn that we don’t actually care about our security anymore. More to the point, as a society we have taught Facebook that it doesn’t need to bother investing in cybersecurity at all anymore because as a public we simply don’t care about our security. After all, if we did, we would stop entrusting more and more of our lives to Facebook. Despite hundreds upon hundreds of millions of users having their passwords exposed to Facebook employees millions upon millions of times in the company’s latest breach, no-one is going to stop using Facebook. There will be no mass exodus of users. There will be no new laws or regulations. There will be no meaningful fines or financial penalties. There will be no consequences of any kind for the company. In fact, looking at global online news coverage in the 65 languages monitored by the GDELT Project (times in UTC), the story lasted only a few hours. By the following day it was all but over. Percent of worldwide online news coverage in 65 languages monitored by the GDELT Project that mentioned the Facebook breach story (times in UTC) It seems we have become so accustomed to Facebook security breaches that announcements of new breaches no longer shock us enough to last more than a few hours in the busy news cycle. It seems even our search interest didn’t last long, with Google Trends suggesting worldwide English-language searches for the story similarly faded fast. Facebook has trained our society to no longer care about the security or safety of our data. This has tremendous ramifications looking to the future of our online security. As the single most influential social network worldwide, Facebook exercises immense influence over technology standards and the movement of industry. As Facebook teaches society across the world to no longer care about cybersecurity, the world’s companies will recognize that their costly investments in securing their user data may no longer be necessary. After all, why spend vast sums of money protecting your networks and databases when there is no penalty for the theft of user data and users don’t actually care anymore and are happy to continue using your products no matter how many times you expose their most intimate information or even passwords to the world? Only financial data carries risk, so as long as credit card information is kept secure, the rest of a company’s data archives no longer seem to need protection if users don’t care if their data is stolen. The alternative is that we do still care, but that Facebook has grown so powerful and all-encompassing that we simply have no alternative but to keep using it no matter what it does to our data. Either way, it seems cybersecurity is less and less important to the public as Facebook continues to reprogram society to accept a security-less future. Putting this all together, perhaps it is time as a society to collectively step back and ask why we have accepted breach after breach after breach after breach from Facebook without taking any action? If we still care about security, it is time to step forward and do something about it. If not, perhaps it is time to simply publicly acknowledge that cybersecurity is no longer of any importance and blindly leap into our new security-less digital future. Source

    RunAsDate 1.37 (x86/x64)

RunAsDate 1.37 (x86/x64) RunAsDate is a small utility that allows you to run a program in the date and time that you specify. This utility doesn't change the current system date and time of your computer, but it only injects the date/time that you specify into the desired application. You can run multiple applications simultaneously, each application works with different date and time, while the real date/time of your system continues to run normally. RunAsDate doesn't require any installation process or additional DLL files. In order to start using it, simply copy the executable file (RunAsDate.exe) to any folder you like, and run it. In the main window of RunAsDate, select the desired date and time and the application that you want to run. Optionally, you can also specify the command-line parameters to run the program. Press the "Run" button to start the application with the specified date/time. Changelog: v1.37 (2019-03-24) Fixed bug: RunAsDate failed to work properly when using the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions in the same time. Also, the DLL file of RunAsDate is now deleted automatically when you close the main window of RunAsDate (If it's not locked). v1.36 (2017-12-08) Added 'Run As Administrator' button to easily run RunAsDate as Administrator. You have to run RunAsDate as Administrator when the program you want to run with RunAsDate requires elevation. v1.35 (2017-07-16) RunAsDate now displays an error message if you try to run 32-bit program with 64-bit version of RunAsDate or 64-bit program with 32-bit version of RunAsDate. RunAsDate now displays an error message if it fails to run the specified .exe file. RunAsDate now also intercepts the NtQuerySystemTime and GetSystemTimePreciseAsFileTime API functions. RunAsDate now also intercepts the date/time functions on kernelbase.dll (in addition to kernel32.dll). This change solves the issue with cmd.exe on Windows 10 (it uses the APIs on kernelbase.dll ) Homepage: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/run_as_date.html Release Date: 2019-03-24 OS: 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/7/8/10 Language: Multilingual DOWNLOAD: =========== Portable (32-bit) (36 KB): http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/runasdate.zip Portable (64-bit) (42 KB): http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/runasdate-x64.zip Language Packs: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/run_as_date.html ===========

A "lackluster" 2016 demo gradually evolved into successful blind comparison tests today. Enlarge / Google Stadia's controller. Google SAN FRANCISCO—Back in 2016, when Google first approached id Software about bringing some games to a potential new streaming service, the game developer was skeptical to say the least. "The proposal immediately bumped against our main bias," id Senior Programmer Dustin Land said during a talk at this week's Game Developers Conference. "Streaming adds latency to the thing we desperately want to remove latency from." Fast forward more than two years, and id was proudly on stage this week showing a version of Doom Eternal running on Google's newly announced Stadia streaming platform. But getting from that initial skepticism to that grand unveiling wasn't always an easy process, Land said. Getting to yes For years, Land said, Google had been watching their YouTube analytics, waiting for a big enough group of users to reach the point where their connections would be able to handle game streaming. By September of 2016, Google thought the broadband market was mature enough to give it a try, and the company approached id for some real-world help with game testing. Porting the 2016 Doom to that very early version of Stadia took just three weeks of full-time work by two people, Land said. That process was made easier because the game already ran on Vulkan graphics with Linux support, things that Land said made it a "good time [for developers] to adopt" after two years of improvements from Khronos. But that first streaming version of Doom was "lackluster," he said, with apparent lag even when running on a local network. So after a bit of iteration, Google came back to id that November with a new version that ran on a nearby cloud instance using a wireless router, a Chromebook, and an Android phone for input. What about the speed of light? While users can't be sure where the Google data center serving their Stadia experience will be, Land said that server will always be within a 64 km radius. With data traveling at around 200,000 km per second along fibre cable, that means a direct signal could be sent in under 320 microseconds (or just 0.32 ms). "We know those [latency] speeds aren't reality for the open Internet," Land continued, citing myriad issues related to switching, congestion, packet loss, video encode/decode, last-mile delivery, and consumer AV hardware. But these are "all things that can be addressed and are continuously being addressed by the companies involved in building and maintaining the Internet," he added. In any case, the speed of light does not seem to be at the core of the latency problem. "Needless to say, it was a night and day difference," Land said. "We were stunned by how much things had improved... It [only felt] like someone just forgot to enable game mode on the TV." That was enough to convince id to move forward with the project, even though there were still some kinks to work out. More recently, Land said Google came to the id offices to set up a "Pepsi Challenge"-style blind test between Stadia and local hardware "to keep themselves honest and really drill down on eliminating perceivable differences in the play experience. They also wanted to demonstrate that Stadia could be superior to a local experience in certain eyes." In that blind test, you could "hardly tell what was local and what was remote," according to Land. The results were strong enough to get non-gamers in the company excited, he added, and convincing enough to get Google's executives to greenlight the whole project for production, leading to this week's announcement. Building a platform Aside from the streaming quality improvement, Google's first entry into the gaming platform world has had some other growing pains, Land said. The company's first version of a Stadia development toolchain, for instance, was just "bad," with lots of bugs and a complicated sequence of steps for setting up and migrating developer environments. After complaints from id, though, Google brought in a user experience team and pivoted quickly based on feedback, setting up easy SSH instances and global environments complete with Web-based administration portals. "One thing that really impressed us the degree to which Google listened," Land said. "Even as they took on more and more, their attentiveness and hunger have not diminished." Google has also had to launch from a standing start when it comes to the platform services side of running a gaming company. The first version of the service id saw was literally just a streaming video window with the ability to read inputs, Land said. With id's support, though, Google has now added Achievement tracking, identity and profile management, leaderboards, parental controls, save games, stat management, matchmaking, and the kind of social graph that developers and players expect from a modern game platform. "Just because you're Google doesn't mean you get [these] things for free," Land noted. Now that they're convinced the technology works, Land said id is optimistic that streaming could let high-end games reach a market of mobile phone, tablet, and laptop users that's potentially ten times the size of the current console and gaming PC market. The company also sees big benefits in the reduced friction of users not having to download game files and the added security of the game binary not being exposed to the end-user. Land also teased that id was busy working on ways to differentiate the Stadia version of Doom Eternal in ways that aren't possible on other platforms. "That is all I'm allowed to say on the subject" for the time being, he added. Source: How id Software went from skeptical to excited about Google Stadia streaming (Ars Technica)

Mozilla Releases Firefox 66.0.1 to Patch Two Critical Security Vulnerabilities

Mozilla Releases Firefox 66.0.1 to Patch Two Critical Security Vulnerabilities Mozilla released the first point release to its latest Firefox 66 web browser to address two critical security vulnerabilities exposed during the Pwn2Own hacking contest event. Firefox 66.0.1 is now available, just a few days after the release of Firefox66.0 earlier this week, to patch CVE-2019-9810 and CVE-2019-9813, two security vulnerabilities reported by Richard Zhu, Amat Cama, and Niklas Baumstark via Trend Micro's Zero Day Initiative. According to the security advisorypublished by Mozilla on March 22nd, CVE-2019-9810 describes a buffer overflow issue and missing bounds check flaw in the Firefox 66.0 release due to incorrect alias information in the IonMonkey JIT compiler for the Array.prototype.slice method. On the other hand, CVE-2019-9813 describes a "type confusion" issue in the IonMonkey JIT code affecting the Firefox 66.0 release that may let attackers read and write arbitrary memory, which was possible due to incorrect handling of __proto__ mutations.Users are urged to update to Firefox 66.0.1Mozilla marked both issues as critical and recommended all Firefox users to update to the Firefox 66.0.1 point release as soon as possible. Firefox 66.0.1 is already rolling out to Windows and macOS platforms via OTA (Over-the-Air) updates. GNU/Linux users will have to install Firefox 66.0.1 from the stable software repositories of their favorite distributions or download the binary packages from our free software portal. Arch Linux and other rolling OSes already pushed Firefox 66.0.1 to their repositories. Mozilla is currently working on the Firefox 67.0 series, due for release on mid-May 2019, but it will release new maintenance updates to Firefox 66 if other security vulnerabilities are discovered or other bugs need to be fixed. Meanwhile, make sure you update to Firefox 66.0.1. Source

Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge Hacked at Pwn2Own

Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge Hacked at Pwn2Own Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge were both hacked in the second day of the Pwn2Own hacking contest, and in the case of the Windows 10 browser, researchers came up with a super-complex and clever approach to escape a virtual machine and get inside the host. Amat Cama and Richard Zhu of Fluoroacetate were the first to attempt to break into Mozilla Firefoxusing a JIT Bug and an out-of-bounds write in the Windows kernel. This technique allowed to run code at system level, technically taking over the machine completely after pointing Firefox to a crafted website. The two were received a price of $50,000. Mozilla’s browser was also hacked by Niklas Baumstark, who escaped the sandbox with a mix of a JIT bug and a logic bug. The researcher eventually obtained the same rights as the logged-in user, which could obviously provide full control of the host in the case of an administrator account. Baumstark received $40,000 for his exploit.Microsoft Edge exploitsFluoroacetate also hacked Microsoft Edge with a more complex attack that earned them $130,000. “Starting from within a VMWareWorkstation client, they opened Microsoft Edge and browsed to their specially crafted web page,” Zero Day Initiative explains. “That’s all it took to go from a browser in a virtual machine client to executing code on the underlying hypervisor. They started with a type confusion bug in the Microsoft Edge browser, then used a race condition in the Windows kernel followed by an out-of-bounds write in VMware workstation.” Arthur Gerkis of Exodus Intelligence also managed to exploit Microsoft Edge with a double free bug in the renderer mixed with a logic bug to escape the sandbox. His successful attack against the Windows 10 browser brought him $50,000. The vulnerabilities that the researchers used to break into the two browsers have been reported to Mozilla and Microsoft and they should be patched in the coming updates. Source

Google Launches New Policy Manager To Tackle Bad Ads

Google Launches New Policy Manager To Tackle Bad Ads Every year, Google shares updates about how they handle malicious and scam advertisements. This year, Google announced the launch of a new Policy Manager for a customized and secure Google Ads ecosystem. They also disclosed the removal of 2.3 billion bad ads in the previous year. 2.3 Billion Bad Ads Removed In 2018 According to the details shared in their recent blog post, Google took down 2.3 billion bad ads in 2018. This includes scam ads related to online tech support, addiction treatment services, cryptocurrency, and others. Google devised new policies to handle fraudulent ads linking back to scammers, as they spotted malicious use of Google Ads by those advertisers. They created a dedicated policy to ban ads from for-profit bail bond services as they targeted ‘vulnerable communities’. In August 2018, Google announced another policy limiting third-party tech support ads to fight back scammers. Likewise, they implemented several new policies to tackle other sorts of bad ads. As stated in their report, “In all, we introduced 31 new ads policies in 2018 to address abuses in areas including third-party tech support, ticket resellers, cryptocurrency and local services such as garage door repairmen, bail bonds and addiction treatment facilities.” Consequently, they took down roughly 58.8 million phishing advertisements, around 207,000 ticket resellers ads, and more than 531,000 ads for bail bonds – summing up to 2.3 billion malicious ads in all. This also includes the fraudulent 3ve Ad Campaign. Launch Of New Policy Manager This year, they have announced the launch of a dedicated new Policy Manager to manage Google Ads. Google will release this Policy Manager in April, which will facilitate ‘well-meaning advertisers’ in launching ‘compliant ads’. Allegedly, Google will allow the advertisers to appeal the decision in case of rejection of their ad(s). Moreover, they will also provide real-time feedback to the advertisers for potential policy violations to avoid conflicts at later stages. Besides, they will continue to provide details to the advertisers in case of ad rejections. Source

Micron's revenue fell by 26 percent in one quarter due to oversupply Big quote: "Our demand outlook for calendar 2019 has moderated, led by somewhat greater levels of customer inventory, weakening server demand at several enterprise OEM customers and worse-than-expected CPU shortages," Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said in an earnings call. Yesterday, Micron released their Q2 2019 financial results and announced their intention to cut production of both DRAM and NAND flash chips by 5 percent this year. Due to large amounts of overstock, Micron's average selling price (ASP) of its products dropped by 20 percent quarter over quarter. The company reported revenues of $5.8 billion for Q2 2019, which was a 26 percent drop from Q1 and a 21 percent drop year over year. The sharp price decrease of DRAM led to a 23 percent drop in Micron's ASP, with gross margin falling to 40 percent from 50 percent in Q1. NAND flash shipments actually increased by a "high single-digit percentage", but a 25 percent dip in NAND ASP led to large losses on that front as well. Micron is expecting the losses to continue, as the company predicted a 17 percent drop in revenue in Q3 with margins falling even further. Micron is following Samsung's lead in decreasing production due to low demand for the oversupply of NAND and DRAM chips. As the Intel CPU shortage enters its second year, there isn't as much of a need for these chips as usual. The combination of the CPU shortage and DRAM and NAND oversupply has led to some of the lowest prices on RAM and SSDs we've ever seen. How the reaction of Micron and Samsung will impact the market for the rest of 2019 remains to be seen, as winding down supply may result in prices starting to creep back up. For now though, take advantage of crazy-good deals on RAM and SSDs, like the insanely fast 500GB Samsung EVO+ that can be had at Microcenter or Amazon right now for $129. View Original Article.

    Forum thread sort order

As an interim measure for consistency, would it be possible to make the default sort order the same for all forums and sub-forums? Currently for example, the General News forum sorts threads by "Start Date", but the Software News forum sorts by "Recently Updated". "Recently Updated" would be my suggestion, latest activity at the top makes the most sense to me.

(How to) Game Backup Monitor: automate game backups

Game Backup Monitor is a free open source program for Windows to back up game saves locally or in the cloud. Losing game saves can be a very frustrating experience; while many modern games support cloud saves, especially if they come from gaming platforms such as Steam or Gog, most older games and even some new ones don't. Progress is saved to the local system when you play these games. If you want to be on the safe side, you may want to back up these game saves; this may also be useful if you play the games on multiple devices as you could move the backups between devices. Backups are also great if a game supports a single save only. Tip: How to optimize your PC so that games run great on it Game Backup Monitor Game Backup Monitor automates the game backup process. It monitors games that you specify and creates backups automatically so that you don't have to. Backups can be saved to a local folder or to the cloud. Game Backup Manager is not the first program to offer the functionality. We reviewed applications like SaveGame Profiler or Game Save Manager in the past. The program comes with a list of over 300 pre-configured games that it can monitor right away. You may add custom games to the list, and may add pretty much any game that stores saves locally including emulators such as DOSBox or Wine. Note: Game Backup Monitor requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. It runs on Linux as well. The application displays a simple menu on start. You may use it to import game configurations using the official list, or add a new game manually instead. Games like Wasteland 2, Warhammer Vermintide 2, Prison Architect, Prey, or Dragon Age are on the default listing. Most games are classic games but you find a couple new ones on the list as well that were released more recently. Just check a game in the list to import its configuration. The selected game is monitored from that moment on provided that Game Backup Monitor detects it properly. Open the Game Manager to verify that this is the case or to adjust certain monitoring parameters. The Game Manager displays all games and configuration for each. You may add new games manually with a click on the plus icon, or select any listed game to edit its configuration. The two main parameters are the process ID of the game process (supports regular expressions to catch multiple game processes) and the game's save path (which can be a local folder or a Registry path). You need to add a name, obviously, and may specify monitoring parameters such as the number of unique backups to keep or what to save. The game list includes a search filter which is useful if the list is large. You may also filter by type, e.g. by games with backups pending. Game Backup Monitor monitors the system for game processes and will back up game saves automatically when it notices that the game processes has been terminated. A click on backup creates manual backups. Just select restore after selecting a game to restore a save game so that it becomes available. Closing Words Game Backup Monitor is a useful program for gamers who run games on Windows or Linux machines. It works with games if they save progress locally. It is easy to start monitoring games that are on the default configuration list; the adding of custom games is not as straightforward as you need to specify a game's process and local save path; this may require some research on your end. A first look at Microsoft’s new Chromium-powered Edge browser

A first look at Microsoft’s new Chromium-powered Edge browser This could be your new default browser on Windows Microsoft is rebuilding its Edge browser on Chromium. The software maker has been testing versions of this browser internally at Microsoft, and now The Vergehas secured an exclusive first look at the early work thanks to a source who wishes to remain anonymous. While the previously leaked screenshots made Edge look very similar to Chrome, Microsoft is adding its own touches and animations to make it look and feel like a Windows browser. When you first install the Chromium version of Edge, Microsoft will prompt you to import favorites, passwords, and browsing history from Chrome or Edge (depending on your default). The setup screen also prompts you to pick a style for the default tab page before you start browsing. Most of the user interface of the browser is a mix of Chrome and Edge, and Microsoft has clearly tried to add its own little touches here and there. There’s a read aloud accessibility option, and it simply reads the page out loud like it does in existing versions of Edge. Some features that you’d expect from Edge are missing, though. Microsoft hasn’t implemented a dark mode just yet, the set aside tabs feature isn’t available, and write on the web with a stylus is missing. MICROSOFT’S NEW VERSION OF EDGE SUPPORTS CHROME EXTENSIONS Microsoft also has support for extensions, and a dedicated extensions page for ones that it has approved. You’ll also be able to install Chrome extensions from Google’s online store, just by flipping a switch in the extensions settings. We’ve tried a number of extensions like 1Password and Ghostery, and they work just like you’d expect them to in Chrome. Microsoft is offering up sync support for extensions in the settings interface for this new version of Edge, but it doesn’t look like it will be available straight away. The page notes that “more of the features listed above will become available for sync in the coming months.” You can only currently sync favorites, but not settings, history, extensions, open tabs, passwords, and autofill information. For an early version of Edge built on Chromium, Microsoft’s new browser feels very polished. It’s also very fast to launch and browse around with. If Microsoft can keep up this good work and keep Edge optimized in the future, I can’t see a reason to need to use Chrome on Windows anymore. I would never have recommended Edge before as it was often slow, clunky, and didn’t always work with websites properly. This new Edge feels entirely different, thanks to its Chromium backend. It’s not yet clear when Microsoft will make this new version of Edge available publicly, but given the most recent internal builds are stable and work well, it’s likely to arrive very soon. We’ll keep you updated on exactly when Microsoft plans to start beta testing its Chromium-powered Edge browser. Source

What Is Google Chrome Focus Mode and How to Enable It

What Is Google Chrome Focus Mode and How to Enable It We’ve known for a while that Google was working on a new Chrome feature called “Focus Mode,” but until now, very little was known about its purpose. In fact, when I first wrote about the Focus Mode in Google Chrome back in February, I speculated that the search giant might be working on something similar to Focus Assist in Windows 10 and which blocks notifications when running apps and games in full screen. In Chrome, such an implementation would basically put the web content at the center of everything, and this makes sense in a wide variety of scenarios, like when reading news online. And while the purpose of Focus Mode in Chrome is indeed to put the focus on a specific page, the way it works is a little bit different than what we expected. As discovered on reddit, the Google Chrome Focus Mode is now available in the Canary version of the browser, which is Google’s testing browser for experimental features before they are included in the stable release. Canary isn’t supposed to become your daily browser, but only to let you try out new ideas ahead of the public launch. What Focus Mode actually isFirst and foremost, Focus Mode in Google Chrome is specifically aimed at tabs, so you can access the feature by simply right-clicking a select tab. What it does, however, is to open the tab that you select in a separate window without the typical browsing controls, so you get to read the content on the web in a simplified interface. As you can see in the screenshots here, you can still interact with the content of the page, so it’s a little bit awkward that back and forward buttons do not exist. However, you can find them in the context menu when right-clicking the page. By the looks of things, Google just wants to provide users with an easy option to open websites in separate windows with their own process. There are no extra features that you get in this Focus Mode, so it’s basically just a new and simplified Google Chrome window. How to enable Focus Mode in Google ChromeIf you want to try out the Focus Mode in Google Chrome, the first thing you need to do is to install the Canary version. Any version newer than 75.0.3740.0 should do. Next, you need to type the following code in the Google Chrome address bar to access the browser flags: chrome://flags And then in the search box at the top type the name of the flag that we’re going to use: #focus-mode As an alternative, you can just copy and paste the following code in the address bar of Google Chrome after launching the browser: chrome://flags/#focus-mode Google Chrome Canary ships with this feature set to the Default mode, which means that for now, it’s disabled. So what you need to do is to click the drop-down menu and then select Enabled. You’ll have to restart the browser for the changes to come into effect. Once you relaunch Google Chrome, the Focus Mode feature should be active, and to use it, simply right-click any tab > Focus this tab. At this point, it’s not yet known when Google wants to include the Focus Mode in the stable version of Chrome, but given it’s already in the Canary build and apparently working alright, there’s a chance it could happen in the next release. The next version to ship is Google Chrome 74 scheduled to go live on April 23. Source
