Torrent Site YTS Discussed Settlement With Movie Companies

Following a lawsuit filed by several movie companies, a representative of the popular torrent site YTS reportedly considered a settlement. While no agreement was reached, the notorious pirate site has made several movies unavailable to the public at large. YTS is the most-visited torrent site on the Internet. With millions of visitors, it even beats the legendary Pirate Bay. The site ‘unofficially’ took over the YTS brand when the original group threw in the towel in 2015. Since then, it has amassed a rather impressive user base. However, that growth didn’t go unnoticed by rightsholders. A few weeks ago the site ran into legal trouble when it was sued by a group of film companies, including the makers of ‘Once Upon a Time in Venice,’ ‘Mechanic: Resurrection,’ and ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’. In a complaint filed at a Hawaiian federal court, they accused the site’s operator of inducing massive copyright infringement. With the legal action, the companies hope to shut the site down and recoup claimed losses. However, that’s easier said than done. In similar cases, site operators often ignored the complaints and any orders that follow them. Surprisingly, however, a claimed representative of YTS, going by the name “Mr. Segaran,” directly reached out to the film companies’ attorney, Kerry Culpepper, after the lawsuit was filed. Apparently, the torrent site was open to resolving the matter, a new court filing reveals. In an email conversation documented by the attorney, Mr. Segaran said he was open to discussing a settlement, but refused to provide identifying information or sign a waiver of service. The attorney replied by stating that a settlement would at least require YTS to remove all links to movies of his clients, which Mr. Segaran agreed to do. “We have received good news, confirmation that all the titles you have sent have been permanently removed from the website and filters put in place to avoid reupping,” the YTS representative wrote to Culpepper a few weeks ago. While this seemed like a promising start, soon after that statement all communication stopped. That’s not all, because YTS also rebranded and switched domain names, moving from YTS.am to YTS.lt. While no official settlement has been reached, YTS did limit the accessibility of the movie companies’ films. Unlike other torrents, which can be downloaded by anyone, titles such as The Hitman’s Bodyguard are now listed as being ‘private.’ “You are trying to access private content. Please LOGIN to gain access to all YIFY content or Create a Free Account to join YTS.LT,” a message on YTS.lt reads. The movie companies’ attorney also noticed this change. In the recent filing, he highlights the rebranding and the private listings of the torrents. “The new website yts.lt once again apparently allows users to download torrent files of Plaintiffs’ motion pictures, but only if the user creates a YTS account and logs in,” Culpepper wrote to the court. Culpepper suggests that people can still download the torrent when they sign in. However, when we created an account and tried to access the torrent while being signed in, it was still listed as private. This suggests that the movies in question are effectively inaccessible. That doesn’t mean, however, that the movie companies are letting the case go. Their attorney recently asked the Court for permission to subpoena YTS’s international web host and domain registrars in order to obtain the true identities of the operator. The Court denied this motion on July 1, citing a lack of personal jurisdiction, as its uncertain whether defendant(s) have ties to the US. To counter this, the movie companies’ attorney submitted a motion for reconsideration, which remains pending today. In recent filings, the movie companies stress that YTS has clear ties with the US. Among other things, YTS is believed to have used the services of New York hosting company Digital Ocean. The information about the hosting provider was shared by Cloudflare, which handed over detailed audit logs after it was subpoenaed. This, surprisingly linked YTS to many other torrent sites as well. “The audit logs for the YTS websites indicate that this Cloudflare account also hosted numerous other movie piracy websites such as: piratetorrents.net, limetorrents.cc, yourbittorrent.com, rarbg.to, torrentbutler.eu, piratetorrents.net, thepiratebay.se.net, torrentz.eu, 1337x.to and extratorrent.cc,” the movie companies write. Whether all the mentioned sites have anything to do with YTS is doubtful though. TorrentFreak knows that many are or were operated by entirely different people, don’t use Cloudflare, or have been defunct for years. It seems more likely that some of the listed sites are in no way related, especially since anyone can add a random domain to a Cloudflare account. This is sometimes done by bad actors who want to hijack domain names of other people. The movie companies, nonetheless, will continue their legal battle and hope to unmask the real YTS operator. The same lawsuit also targets Vietnamese national Nguyen Manh, the alleged operator of YIFYMovies.is, a site that shut down shortly after the lawsuit was filed. A copy of the motion for reconsideration, submitted on behalf of the movie companies, is available here (pdf). VIEW: Original Article.

It's July 2019. It's been roughly 11 months since Valve introduced the world to a new version of Steam Play and a compatibility layer called Proton. Today, nearly 5700 Windows-only Steam games run great on Linux with just a click of the "install" button, and many more are becoming compatible every month as Valve and the Proton team work their development magic. To say gaming on Linux has come a long way in a brief time is an understatement. But I just wrapped up some game benchmarks on the System76 Oryx Pro laptop that downright surprised me and I wanted to share them with you. The System76 Oryx Pro laptop running Pop!_OS 19.04 Having a game run on Linux that isn't built for Linux? That's certainly a cool thing. Performance is another thing entirely. It's not a compelling enough argument for Linux enthusiasts to tell their Windows-using friends that "hey, but the games you play run on Linux!" They have to run well. Maybe the notion of switching to Linux is an enticing one for the stability and increased privacy control, but you can't show me an enthusiast gamer who'll willingly trade that for a 20% drop in the framerates they're used to on their hardware, right? That 20% is an important number, albeit not a scientific one. When I got into Linux last year, that's the figure I kept seeing thrown around. "Sure, it runs on Linux but about 15% to 20% lower FPS." With constant improvements to the kernel, Vulkan drivers and Steam Proton, however, I think the situation has changed. Enough of my rambling. Here's what we're looking at today: I have an Oryx Pro laptop from Linux PC manufacturer System76 (the company behind Thelio and Pop OS). It packs an Nvidia GTX 2070 Max-Q graphics card, 6-Core Intel Core i7-8750H CPU and 16GB of RAM. It's a beautiful and powerful machine. It also happily runs Windows 10 because it's basically a Clevo, and System76 linked me to a couple missing drivers to get stuff like the RGB keyboard lit up. So I figured what the heck? Let's do a head-to-head, Linux versus Windows 10 benchmark run and see what shakes out. I tested 6 games total (2 that are native to each platform, and 4 that run on Linux via Steam Proton) with Windows 10 version 1903 and the Ubuntu-based Pop!_OS 19.04 with Linux kernel 5.0. On the Nvidia driver side, Windows 10 is rocking version 431.36, and Pop!_OS utilizes the latest stable Nvidia proprietary driver which is 430.34. The latest Steam beta is used on both installations, and all games are running from the 500GB NVMe drive. To avoid any run-to-run variations, only built-in benchmark tools were used. Game Quality Settings: F1 2018: Ultra Preset with TAA, benchmark track is Australia with heavy rain Dirt Rally: Ultra Preset, 8x MSAA Shadow of the Tomb Raider: High Preset with TAA Total War: Three Kingdoms: High Preset, "Battle" benchmark Strange Brigade: Ultra Preset, ASync Compute off Hitman 2: High Detail & Textures, all other settings maximum, Miami benchmark scene System76 Oryx Pro: 1080p Gaming on Steam with Windows 10 and Pop!_OS 19.04 Let's pick these results apart. Dirt Rally and Total War: Three Kingdoms are both native to each operating system (with the Linux ports handled by Feral Interactive). The former uses OpenGL and the latter utilizes Vulkan. In both results, Pop!_OS comes out 14% ahead over Windows 10 in average framerate. The remaining 4 games are obviously native to Windows, and run on Linux thanks to Valve's Proton layer. In a very brief nutshell, this translates DirectX API calls on the fly to Vulkan (in other words, a graphics API that Linux understands). Crucially, these aren't even titles that Valve has "whitelisted" for Steam Play on Linux. The very demanding Hitman 2 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Pop!_OS can't quite catch Windows 10, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider did exhibit a much lower minimum framerate via Proton. But Strange Brigade sees a straight up tie at 107 average FPS on both operating systems. F1 2018 via Proton does pull ahead of Windows, though, by about 6%. Takeaways Does Linux win, here? Not really, but that's not the point. There are scattered victories, but without testing literally thousands of games across across hundreds of hardware configurations, we can't make that statement. And I'm fairly sure Windows would get the overall performance crown as the number of games tested increased. For now. We're seeing the open source graphics community at Valve, Red Hat, Google and elsewhere make serious strides. Linux has less overhead to begin with, and that advantage is primarily seen in productivity and compute workloads. So as the Vulkan drivers improve, Linux gaming improves. And just this month Valve published a new compiler focused strictly on gaming that improves upon the existing LLVM-based solution, boosting both average and minimum framerates on AMD Radeon hardware. (More on that here). What we're seeing today is a level of gaming performance on Linux that simply wasn't happening a year ago. Or even 6 months ago. Parity is being achieved more frequently, and while you still can't play every Windows game under the sun, the landscape looks brighter as each day rolls on. Plus, this little test was leveraging Nvidia GPUs. I suspect that once Valve's ACO compiler matures, a similar experiment on Radeon GPUs may show even stronger performance when compared to Windows. Speaking of the AMD side of things, Valve developer Pierre-Loup Griffais told me that the performance work being done in Proton and DXVK has gotten to a point where the CPU overhead of translating DX11 through DXVK can be lower than the overhead in the native AMD DX11 driver on Windows. That's impressive to begin with, and he told me that months ago. . . Stay tuned for more along this path. It's something we should definitely be keeping an eye on. Source

New trailer for IT Chapter Two ratchets up the horror

New trailer for IT Chapter Two ratchets up the horror Pennywise gets nostalgic: "For 27 years I dreamt of you. I craved you. I missed you." In IT Chapter Two, the Losers Club must confront the horrors of the past and put an end to the unspeakable evil that has terrorized the town for so long. Pennywise the demonic clown gleefully inflicts all manner of psychological and physical torment on the grown-up members of the Losers Club in a new trailer for IT Chapter Two. The trailer was shown during New Line Cinema's "ScareDiego" event, a prelude to San Diego Comic-Con that's been happening annually for the last three years. (Some spoilers for first film and novel below.) Set in 1989, IT essentially adapted half of King's original novel, telling the story of a group of misfit kids calling themselves "The Losers Club." The kids discover their small town of Derry is home to an ancient, trans-dimensional evil that awakens every 27 years to prey mostly on children by taking the form of an evil clown named Pennywise. Bill (Jaeden Lieberher) loses his little brother, Georgie, to Pennywise, and the group decides to take on Pennywise and drive him into early hibernation, where he will hopefully starve. But Beverly (Sophia Lillis) has a vision warning that Pennywise will return on schedule in 27 years, and they must be ready to fight him anew. IT: Chapter Two revisits our protagonists 27 years later, as they all return to Derry to as adults for a reunion of sorts. The first trailer dropped in May, featuring an adult Beverly (Jessica Chastain) returning to the house she grew up in and sitting down for tea with the elderly woman now living there. But that old woman turns out to be much more menacing than she first appeared. All grown up This new trailer gives us a lot more terrifying footage of what's in store for the Loser's Club as they gather in Derry as adults for a reunion. Most of them left Derry and built successful lives elsewhere—at least on the surface. "Something happens when you leave this town," Mike Hanson (Isaiah Mustafa) says in a voiceover. "The farther away, the hazier it all gets." He's the only one who stayed: "I remember all of it." Mike tells his friends that they didn't destroy It completely 27 years ago, and he reminds them of their childhood oath: if It ever came back, they would return to fight again. Well, Pennywise is back, and he's itching for a rematch. That means the Losers Club must confront the horrors of its past and put an end to the unspeakable evil that has terrorized the town for so long. It's not a welcome prospect. "I've seen all of us die," Beverly Marshall confesses. "It consumes us from the inside, until we don't have a choice anymore." Horrors unleashed The trailer is a study in contrasts. Images of the Losers Club's younger selves are juxtaposed with them as adults. Images of a bright sunny day in the seemingly wholesome town of Derry mix with dank shots of Pennywise's domain—the sewers and a funhouse at the local amusement park. That provides the setting for a wrenching sequence in which Bill Denbrough (James McAvoy) finds himself trapped in a maze of mirrors, watching as a gloating Pennywise attacks a young boy. "For 27 years, I dreamt of you," Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård) rasps in another voiceover. "I craved you. I missed you." Skarsgård's maniacal performance has haunted the dreams of many a moviegoer during the last two years. It looks like we're in for a few more nightmares. Two of the fixes made in version 20H1 were back-ported by Microsoft to version 1903 (Release Preview, build 18362.263). The first fix is about an emoji bug. More specifically, dragging the emoji panel is extremely laggy and in some cases, the window can’t be closed or stopped. Here’s how some users describe the issue: Found an interesting bug in Windows 10 1903 with the Emoji window. The window now floats over the screen and can’t be closed or stopped. Weird dragging bug with UWP apps on 1809-17763.404 The emoji window is still painfully and inhumanly slow though, so don’t even touch that if you don’t want a headache Windows 10 users complained about it for some time now, and it seems that Microsoft is finally solving it. If you can’t get the update right away, the only resolution to this problem for now is to stop moving your mouse. When the emoji window will get to the drag destination, you will be able to close it. The second fix is about a Start Menu bug. After updating to 1903, some users encountered a weir bug that made the taskbar auto-hide when trying to open the Start Menu. The issue is pretty annoying and users are disappointed with the update: Just did a fresh install of 1903. Must say, I’m disappointed with the buggy search and startmenu. I’m facing this issue since i update to 1903 May update and i didn’t find any solution if someone face it before and had a solution, If the taskbar set to auto hide and try to open start menu or any kind of pop up menu it’s hide and while pop up the menu. You’ll be happy to know that both issue have been fixed by Microsoft and they are coming with the Kb4505903 (OS build 18362.263) in the Release Preview ring. The cumulative update should arrive to all Windows 10 users in a couple of days. Source

FaceApp might face FBI, FTC investigation over security concerns

Sen. Chuck Schumer and the DNC says the fact that Russia is involved is a problem. The viral hit FaceApp is facing further scrutiny from US Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. The senator has asked the FBI and the Federal Trade Commission to open a national security and privacy investigation into the Russian-developed AI photo-editing app. In a public letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and FTC Chairman Joe Simons, Schumer said he has "serious concerns regarding both the protection of the data that is being aggregated as well as whether users are aware of who may have access to it." Schumer asked the FBI to assess whether any data uploaded to FaceApp could find its way into the hands of the Russian government. He also asked the FTC to examine whether there are "adequate safeguards" in place to protect the privacy of the users. The FTC confirmed it received Schumer's letter but declined to comment further. The FBI didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. The Democratic National Committee sent a security alert to 2020 presidential campaigns on Wednesday urging them not to use the app, according to CNN. "This app allows users to perform different transformations on photos of people, such as aging the person in the picture. Unfortunately, this novelty is not without risk: FaceApp was developed by Russians," said the security alert from Bob Lord, the DNC's chief security officer. Released in 2017, FaceApp has seen a new surge of popularity with the #AgeChallenge. The app lets you take a selfie, or choose an existing photo, and apply an AI filter that makes you look old. The app's maker responded to privacy concerns over how it handles users' photos in a statement Wednesday denying any mishandling of user data. FaceApp didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. Originally published July 18 at 6:23 a.m. PT. Update, at 6:57 a.m. PT: Adds response from FTC and news about the DNC security alert. Your system settings are always correct as long as You don't change them. Why should somebody need things, that doesn't do nothing (as You said) SSD is made so that it has always maximum possible performance and You can only harm Your SSD, but cannot never make it better. Do You understand - it based on crystal structure and You can't change there absolutely nothing. The only thing You can do is to destroy it's default structure using external forces. Maybe You remember, that the first SSD drive was released on 1976, but today is 2019 and still people don't know, what is SSD drive and how it works. How it is possible, dear people? But at the same time everyone teach, how make it faster and get better performence.

Microsoft notified 10,000 victims of nation-state attacks

Most of the attacks came from state-sponsored hacking groups in Iran, North Korea, and Russia. Microsoft said that over the past year it notified nearly 10,000 users that they'd been targeted or compromised by nation-state hacking groups. The company didn't just blast out random statistics, but also named names. Microsoft said most of the attacks came from state-sponsored hackers from Iran, North Korea, and Russia. More precisely, the Iran attacks came from groups Microsoft calls Holmium and Mercury, the North Korean attacks came from a group called Thallium, and the Russian attacks came from groups called Yttrium and Strontium. Who are some these groups? Some of these codenames are new, but some describe years-old state-sponsored groups. For example, according to this Google spreadsheet that keeps track of all the different nation-state hacking group names, Holium is the codename of Iran's APT33. This is one of the most infamous cyber-espionage groups around, and is responsible for creating the dangerous Shamoon data-wiping malware. At the start of July, US Cyber Command published a security alert about new APT33 attacks aimed against US targets, and using an old Outlook vulnerability. In addition, Strontium is the codename for APT28, also known as Fancy Bear. This group of Russian hackers is responsible for a long list of attacks in the last decade. They've targeted the White House, the Pentagon, NATO members, EU governments, they've breached the DNC, they've created the NotPetya ransomware and deployed it in Ukraine, and they've also set up the VPNFilter router botnet. Microsoft has been engaged in a long battle against this group. Over the last summer, Microsoft took control over several domains operated by APT28, which the company said the group was using to target parties involved in the 2018 US midterm elections. In February 2018, Microsoft exposed new APT28 attacks, this time targeting parties involved in the 2019 European Parliament election. Nation-state hackers also targeted electoral entities Microsoft said that around 84% of the nearly 10,000 nation-state attacks it detected targeted its enterprise customers, and only 16% of these attacks were aimed at home consumers and their personal email accounts. Furthermore, Microsoft also said it detected nation-state attacks against political organizations involved in the electoral process. These stats came from Microsoft's AccountGuard technology, a free security service the OS maker has been providing for nearly a year to political campaigns, parties, and democracy-focused nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) across 26 countries. According to Tom Burt, Microsoft Corporate Vice President, Customer Security & Trust, Microsoft sent out 781 notifications to organizations enrolled in AccountGuard over the past year. Around 95% of these 781 notifications were sent to US-based organizations, Burt said. But besides revealing the extent of nation-state attacks, yesterday was also a big day for Microsoft. The company also demoed a new product, part of its Defending Democracy Program. Called ElectionGuard, this is a free software kit for cryptographically securing voting machines. Microsoft only demoed ElectionGuard voting machines in Aspen, Colorado, but does not have plans to sell commercial voting machines. The OS maker plans to open-source the software behind them on GitHub, later this year, and has already partnered with some voting machine vendors to help them roll out more secure voting systems in the future. Bulgaria's hacked database is now available on hacking forums

Half of the database, to be exact, the half the hacker released to local reporters over the last weekend. The database of Bulgaria's National Revenue Agency (NRA), which was hacked over the weekend and sent to local reporters, is now being shared on hacking forums, ZDNet has learned from sources in the threat intelligence community. Download links to the hacked database have been shared by a hacked data trader known as Instakilla, believed to be operating out of Bulgaria. ZDNet obtained a copy of the database and verified its authenticity with local sources, and this is a copy of the same database sent to local media over the weekend. The database contains 57 folders, 10.7 GB in size, and holds personal and financial information consistent with what Bulgarian newspapers reported receiving over the weekend. This includes personally identifiable information, tax information, from both the NRA, and from other government agencies who shared their data. Instakilla, the data trader who published the database online for everyone to download, has not responded to a request for comment. This threat actor has been known to share hacked data for years. He previously advertised data belonging to gaming forums and thousands of selfies of Bulgarian citizens holding up their IDs for some sort of authentication procedure. An older version of Instakilla's website was being used years ago to sell cocaine, and even linked to a Facebook profile -- although it is unclear if this person, a Bulgarian man, is behind the Instakilla persona, or has been framed. Suspected hacker arrested and then released In the meantime, the investigation into the NRA hack has advanced in Bulgaria. In a statement on its website, the agency said the hack took place 20 days ago, not years before, as the hacker claimed; and the hacker only accessed 3% of its systems. Local media initially reported that the hacker stole the data of five million citizens, around 70% of the country's population. These numbers were later downgraded, as reports said the data also included the details of foreigners and deceased persons. Bulgarian police arrested a 20-year-old suspect on Wednesday, July 17, but he was released earlier today. According to a Dnevnik report, the suspect, a computer expert from the city of Plovdiv, had illegally copied data from the NRA's servers, but not the data that was involved in the recent hack. Either way, he still faces between five to eight years in prison, along with a fine. In the meantime, Bulgarian Interior Minister Mladen Marinov continues to push the idea that Russian hackers are behind the security breach, as the NRA database was hacked after Bulgarian authorities announced the purchase of US-made F-16 fighter jets. Police need intercept tools as mobile networks develop: Europol

THE HAGUE (Reuters) - European law enforcement agencies set to lose the ability to tap criminals’ mobile devices with the launch of 5G technology must be brought into discussions earlier when communications networks are modernised, the new head of Europol told Reuters. Appealing to EU leaders for greater powers to fight tech-savvy criminals, Catherine De Bolle said its member states do not yet have the domestic regulations or technology to fill the policing gap that will open up when 4G networks become obsolete. “It is one of the most important investigative tools that police officers and services have, so we need this in the future,” she said in an interview, giving the example of locating a child who has been kidnapped. European police authorities are now able to listen to and track wanted criminals using mobile communication devices on the 4G network, but “we cannot use them in the 5G network,” De Bolle said. She said European law enforcement agencies were brought into talks on the 5G transition among tech companies and policymakers too late. That meant that officials were now being forced to seek ways to limit the damage when police are stripped of critical surveillance capabilities under 5G. The comments came as Europol released a report on crime fighting in the digital era, called “Do Criminals Dream of Electric Sheep,” which described the adoption by criminals of new encrypted communication tools, 3-D printing technology and hacking capabilities that target potential victims online. It highlighted the ability by terrorists to use self-driving cars or drones as weapons, artificial intelligence that can spread fake news and high-speed quantum computing that may help crack encryption codes. “WEB-BASED CRIMINALITY” Police agencies “were not vocal enough” when policy makers and commercial businesses were discussing 5G technology, and De Bolle is sounding the alarm to avoid a repeat. “The biggest risk is that we are not enough aware of the developments on a technological level and we have to be ahead on this. We have to understand what is going on and we have to try to provide answers to it,” she said. “So we need to be at the table where they discuss about the technological development, where they discuss standardisation.” Europol opened in 1999 as Europe’s collective policing agency and combats cross-border organised crime, terrorism and cybercrime in the bloc. It has 900 staff based in The Hague. The agency is in discussions in Brussels to double its budget from this year’s 138 million euros ($155 million) by 2027, largely to revamp its cybercrime capabilities, De Bolle said, detailing the new report. “The area we are working in and the technological evolution we are dealing with - the innovation used by criminals, the web-based criminality - it is huge,” said De Bolle, who joined Europol in May 2018 from the Belgian police force. She made the case for Europol to become a platform for modernising EU police forces by developing digital tools and technology. To do that, Europol would need greater political and financial support from European institutions. In the next seven-year EU budget period from 2021 to 2027 “we need a doubling of the money we have today,” she said. Source

More effective than traditional brightness, Perfect Exposure lets you maintain Real Color Photography™ without clipping or washing out. Our technology overcomes the distortions caused by a single aperture by replicating the way your eye gathers light and correcting your exposure pixel by pixel. - Depth. Brings out the contrast in a photo without messing up the other colors. Perfectly Clear uses a patented algorithm that manages the dynamic range in a unique way, revealing the detail needed to produce this kind of depth. - Light Diffusion. Perfectly Clear lets you create a softer look with warmer tones and captures the perfect portrait even in broad daylight. - Skin & Depth bias. For realistic lighting on skin. Color. - Photoshop is powerful, but for Full Color Spectrum, Light Diffusion, automatic red-eye removal, you have to turn to Perfectly Clear. - Vibrancy. Perfectly Clear mimics how the eye adjusts saturation, providing a color-vibrant photo. Sometimes digital cameras can cause photos to look washed out/faded because they have a linear response to light. But our solution overcomes this problem by looking at each channel independently. - Fidelity. We reproduce the full visual spectrum of colors seen by the eyes, enabling you to capture purples properly every time. - Tint. In the days of film, you had to carry around different films and filters for different times of day-all to get the lighting source correct. To remove nasty tints-from tungsten, fluorescent, incandescent, IR-Perfectly Clear searches for an abnormal tint, then reveals the great photo underneath. Clarity. - Sharpening. Traditional sharpening methods also sharpen weak signal and introduce halos. Perfectly Clear only searches for strong signal and creates sharp, clear photos with zero artifacts. - Noise removal. Perfectly Clear automatically reduces noise 2-3 stops with one click (unlike Ps or Lr which requires multiple slider bar adjustments). ISO 1600 is effectively reduced to ISO 200-400 without blurring or losing details. Eyes. - Red-eye. We sourced this technology from our wonderful partner FotoNation, which is embedded in hundreds of millions devices. It detects and corrects imperfections as quickly as 5 images per second with no manual intervention. - Unlike Photoshop, Perfectly Clear not only removes red eye automatically, it also includes Eye Enhance, Eye Enlarge, Dark Circle removal, and the ability to automatically add 5 different Catchlights. Skin. Perfectly Clear lets you smooth and tone skin, adjust blush, and remove infrared, shine and blemishes. Our robust, automatic correction uses advanced facial detection techniques to identify age, gender and key facial features including texture and skin tone. As a result, we're able to determine the precise amount of corrections to apply automatically. All of our Beautify corrections are much faster than doing this manually in Ps or Lr which will takes minutes per image instead of seconds. Face. OneWeb’s low-Earth satellites hit 400Mbps and 32ms latency in new test

New wave of satellite broadband — OneWeb’s low-Earth satellites hit 400Mbps and 32ms latency in new test OneWeb's first six satellites pass test as company moves closer to real service. Enlarge / Illustration of a OneWeb satellite. OneWeb OneWeb says a test of its low-Earth orbit satellites has delivered broadband speeds of more than 400Mbps with average latency of 32ms. "The tests, which took place in Seoul, South Korea, represent the most significant demonstration of the OneWeb constellation to date, proving its ability to provide superior broadband connectivity anywhere on the planet," OneWeb said in an announcement yesterday. The company said it's on track toward creating "a fully functioning global constellation in 2021 and delivering partial service beginning as early as 2020." The test described yesterday involved six OneWeb satellites that were launched in February. OneWeb says its commercial network "will start with an initial 650 satellites and grow up to 1,980 satellites." While the 32ms latency figure is an average, the 400Mbps result seems to be the peak speed delivered during the test. OneWeb said its test also demonstrated "seamless beam and satellite handovers; accurate antenna pointing and tracking; [and] live-streamed video at resolutions up to 1080p." OneWeb originally promised service in Alaska "as early as 2019," but by February 2019 the company said it would only be able to provide customer demos by 2020. SpaceX and Amazon service in the works OneWeb is one of several companies aiming to provide global broadband connectivity with a network of low-Earth satellites. Current satellite systems are hampered by median latency of nearly 600ms, making them an unsuitable replacement for cable or fibre systems. But the lower orbits used by OneWeb and other companies should result in latencies that are much closer to wireline quality. Federal Communications Commission testing found that fibre ISPs deliver median latencies of 12ms to 20ms, while cable ISPs deliver median latencies of 15ms to 34ms. DSL providers were measured at 25ms to 80ms. (See page 477 of this FCC report for latencies by ISP.) OneWeb's biggest competitor so far is SpaceX, which has FCC permission to launch nearly 12,000 low-Earth satellites. OneWeb received its initial FCC approval in June 2017, while SpaceX got its first major FCC approval in March 2018 and launched 60 satellites in May 2019. SpaceX lost contact with three of the 60 satellites. More recently, Amazon revealed plans for a similar broadband-satellite service, and the company applied for FCC authorization earlier this month.
