For a guide on SystemBoosterXP, which has a much better layout than my guide does, go here.

:D :showoff2:

Nice comment :D :dance2:

Thank you :dance2:

Gehehe :P You link to mine,I link to yours. We do keep things fair over here :D

But I'm working on improving mine, since holidays are coming ;-) (Serious stuff stops here, if you got some exams to study for then skip the following) I should actually be learning for my exams now(Oh wait, this was serious too: I 'should' be learning for my exams :showoff2:), but in progress of finding my dictionary to look up the word 'learning' I thought I'd check the Internet. Totally without my knowledge my hand took the mouse and clicked on a bookmark 'Nsane forums'. When there I couldn't waste the bandwidth already used by entering the page, so I had to reply :P Now I'll get back to searching for the word 'learning' of course not knowing that I will never find such a word in the dictionary since it would be 'to learn', but I don't know that yet, so please don't tell me and let me find it out myself :D

No, I didn't smoke the same shit as when I was brabbling about 'i' and 'I', actually I didn't smoke any shit at all that time, nor did I do now. Scary, whilst I am totally normal people here think I smoked stuff... Hmmmmm, must be their fault :dance2:

Edit: Some more serious stuff: I'd also like to make a pdf out of my guide with a nice table of contents and maybe something like a clickable table of contents... But I don't know if that is possible in pdf, I know it is in html...

I would also like a clickable table of contents. Can that be done in a forum post

Why would you look anything up in a dictionary when you can ask on the nsane forum ;)

I don't think so, Marik might know how since he does some HTML coding in his posts sometimes? Right?

I guess we will have to wait for his answer then ;)

The answer is a nono  Ah well, can't have everything. I'll rip it off the forums in HTML and add the taggs myself with notepad. Then putting it in html file and there you go :) If it's compact enough I'll just add it to the first post as an attachment.

I did it! Redid my guide in HTML and it looks better now :D I can rip your guide in HTML too if you want spasserfan, but you'll have to add the tags yourself :D

I copied the HTML file I got without the clickable table of contents into the HTML editor and saved it, now my guide has the improved looks on the forums(and some minor changes, renaming parts and relocating) too :D (After a few tries it worked out finally :() I did lose all the smileys though :)

It really got an improved look :pirate: , however I recommend that you change size of the headings down the guide, to make it more readable, the headings should be larger than the text. You can see in my guide what I mean.

Good to see that your guide finally is meeting the standard of mine :angelnot: :D (there it was again, the missing smiley ;) )

I hope this means that I started an layout revolution on the forum that in the end will make all larger posts like these guide a lot more readable :P

Mwuahhh... I actually like the headings being the same size and therefore used bold and underlined to make them jump out :D Might be changing that in the future, depends on my mood... :P

I do have to mention that I did not write the guide on SystemBoosterXP :pirate: spasserfan did ;) I'd also like to thank him(again) for the endless contribution to this guide.

Me neither guys, I'll have to include it in my guide :) Probably will be just around 3-6 lines or something.

Hi all!

I have observed that sometimes after a HD defrag, on vista, using UD 2008 the 'System volume information' file became greater in size (until 30 gb). I can reduce this size making a system clean leaving just the last system point restore or even deleting all system point restore. Is this a bug or maybe I made some configuration mistake?

Thanks!

It shouldn't grow like that, I mean UD doesn't change any files except for it's own log. I'd rather have a look at your Windows settings and try to fix it there, because I have no clue what the problem could be. If your system is running just fine you can clean all the restore points except for the last  If you think it's size is too big I believe you can adjust it to a minimum too.

I had noticed this behavior both on my 1 year old notebook (80 gb of HD) and on my new desktop (500 gb of HD). I think it is a Vista problem to recognize the right size of system volume information file after defragmentation. Please pay attention of this. May be you will note some difference in your system size before and after defragmentation.

I have to say that I always have used strict placement and I never have selected the system volume information file to be defragmented.

Regards.

If someone more could confirm this problem being related to Vista I would add it to the guide, but as you probably will understand I can't add a note just because of one particular case. If you are willing to you could do some more research for instance in the UD settings and the Windows settings. If I'm not mistaken Vista doesn't only use the System Volume Information for backups but for shadow copies of files too, maybe that has something to do with it ;)

Long time no see... I haven't been active for quite some time now ;)

Maybe you should update your guide with the above 3-6 lines, now that the boottime module has been released (it "only" took the 4 months, after they announced it would be ready after 3 weeks :/ ) :P

Updating? I don't really know if there's anything to add.

Anyway I replaced the download link with the one from our frontpage, since WHFF banned all our IPs(as far as I know) and removed all files uploaded by our IPs :P

Better, I updated the HTML and now the clickable table of contents works in the forums as well ;)
