Last week, Microsoft released updates for both the stable and beta versions of its Launcher for Android. As we noted then, the changelog for the update in the beta channel stated "What's new for v4.10 phase 1", which left room for more features coming soon.

Today, Microsoft is fulfilling those expectations with a new update that adds two major new features to version 4.10: Visual Search and Microsoft Rewards integration.

  • Visual Search: use the camera through Search bar to recognize celebrities, landmarks, apparel and more! (US Only)
  • Microsoft Rewards: see Rewards balance in the Feed and earn points for using Bing search; (US only)
  • Wallpaper UX improvements and bug fixes

Visual search seems to be similar to what's found in Google Lens, while the Microsoft Rewards integration should make it easier to benefit from the program. The downside is that both of these features are exclusively available for users in the United States.

Though the app lets users change the Bing search region, this only seems to enable Visual Search. Microsoft Rewards could be dependent on the region the Microsoft Account is registered in.

Nonetheless, the update should make the app even more appealing. It should make its way to users in the stable channel over the coming weeks including the child tracking feature added last week.
