The Microsoft Store (formerly the Windows Store) in Windows 10 offers more than just apps. It includes options to purchase movies and TV shows, devices, download extensions and more. To accommodate for these additions and to improve discoverability, the company has been working on tweaking the store by adding dedicated tabs for devices, Edge extensions and more.

As part of that effort, the company might be adding a new ‘Departments’ drop-down menu to the store. A report from Windows Central states that the company is A/B testing such a functionality to further promote the varied types of content that can be found in the Microsoft Store. The menu contains a total of four sections – Software & apps, Entertainment, Devices, and Deals.

There appear to be five options under each section. For example, options such as Office, Windows 10, Edge Extensions, Customize Windows and Software Support fall under the Software & apps section, whereas Mixed Reality, Books and Xbox are logically categorized in the Entertainment section.

The company is also working on bringing about changes to the navigation menus in the app to better suit the type of content that is present in the store. However, with some dedicated tabs already present for a few categories, it isn’t clear if and when the firm would replace or reposition these elements in the navigation bar.

Since this functionality is being A/B tested, the update to the app may or may not make it to your device until it is finalized.
