OnePlus's new flagship phone, the 6, hasn't been much of a secret, with the company teasing various features over the last couple of months. Today, the firm unveiled the device in all of its glory.

It has the top of the line specs that you'd expect from a OnePlus handset, and the company pointed out that it's the only firm that exclusively uses Qualcomm's flagship 800-series Mobile Platforms. And indeed, the OnePlus 6 does use a Snapdragon 845. OnePlus said that it focused on speed with this new device, and that's not just from the hardware, as the software is optimized for it as well.

This time around, the handset is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which OnePlus says is like "armor for your phone". Company co-founder Carl Pei said that this allows for better connectivity from the device, and will support gigabit 4G LTE speeds.

Pei touted the camera as well, just as you'd expect. OnePlus is finally including optical image stabilization in its handset, which the co-founder promises will result in better low light performance. It also includes 4K 60fps video capture, something that can only be found elsewhere in the latest iPhones and the Samsung Galaxy S9.

There's also a new Portrait Mode, which will be supported by the front camera as well with an upcoming software update.

And as always, OnePlus is aiming to be competitive on price, with the 6 starting at just $529. This makes it one of the most inexpensive Snapdragon 845-powered devices on the market.

It can be configured with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, all while still costing less than an iPhone 8. The OnePlus 6 will be available on May 22 in Mirror Black and Midnight Black, and the limited edition Silk White model will be coming on June 5.
