You can no longer 'view image' on Google Images search results

Searching for images relating to a particular subject or those matching an image you already had was made particularly easy by using Google's search engine. While a boon for consumers, the search giant has come under fire by content creators and publishers, who aren't pleased with the ease of access with which users can copy their copyrighted images through Google Images.

As such, the company is making a small change to the user interface for showing results related to image searches. The 'view image' button which allowed you to conveniently open an image alone has now been removed.

Of course, this doesn't mean you won't be able to download the images at all, if you so wanted. It's simply a measure that is aimed at making things a little more harder for users before they can obtain a local copy of an image, as you are now required to instead 'visit' the webpage where the image is found and then manually open it from within the website hosting it.

The changes will ultimately mean users are more likely to visit the sites where images they like are hosted, thereby helping drives revenues for the site through ad views and increase the overall exposure of the website. Unfortunately, some sites do tend to disable the ability to right-click on, and open, images, which may make it even harder to grab an image.

Alongside this change, the 'search by image' button has also been removed from the search results. As with the last change, this doesn't mean you can't search using an image at all but simply that you now have one more step to perform before you can reverse search for images. You will now need to drag the image results you've opened into the search bar manually. This, again, seems aimed at allaying publishers' concerns about users quickly searching for alternative images that do not feature a watermark.

I clarify: Mozilla SI continues to work in the image search by address where it has been loaded or found.

You can use these 2 user scripts

Google: Direct Links for Pages and Images

https://greasyfork.org/scripts/19210

Google: Bypass Result Page Redirect

https://greasyfork.org/scripts/14150

Then you can right click on the image  and open it  in a new tab  and bypass Goggle image viewer  .

I been using this method  every since they stop updating the old method  of bypassing Google images.

Its just like when they changed  there news api  there is a user script  were you can change back to the old one

Restore Google News Layout

the 2 scripts are totally useless, they could at least try to add the missing "view image" button via the script.

With these these  two scripts it bypasses the need for a view image button  .

Open the link  in New Tab

Why would  you want a view  image  button  ? I  never use that,  even the link is right there  on bottom of the image, if i want to visit the website instead. I been using user scripts for years to get rid of that view  image  page altogether, it just unneeded clicks. When they made these scripts  there  were no need to add a view image button  because they had one ,these are made so you can get the image  from Google  without being redirected to another page   .:P:P:lol:

Throughout the years Google search has been more and more anti-user friendly. First they messed up the Google Safesearch, then recently they made it harder to use other country's search engine - making it harder to use a non-region locked search. Until recently they had disabled the amount of search results on one page setting to allow for instant search and when people got used to using instant search, they removed it.

Coming to this issue, do the developers at Google even know that some images one can find on Google image search are not to be found easily on the page they are posted or their links completely removed from being visible on the original page giving users no option but to either view image from within Google or look elsewhere. Also, what about badly coded pages which take ages to open or are really heavy on Mobile which makes it really harder for one to get images.

I for one am quite angry with this move. Even when not downloading, this was one relatively easy method to see images properly.

Another thing to mention though, this view image button was never visible, on purpose, on Google images for Firefox Android I think.

"Copyright bla" ok nanny, LET ME DECIDE. I feel stupid. :o

This direct link fetching from Google made it a lot easier, i'm one of those cover hunters, having a direct link to stuff makes things easier but this change doesn't make it that harder, have a look at this https://userscripts-mirror.org/scripts/show/78355

Shouldn't be hard to adapt.

Taken from this article:

Just visit the Startpage main website and enter a search term. You do need to switch to images on the results page to get a thumbnail view of images similar to the one that is provided by Google Images.

I want to link to a better method than the user scripts mentioned above. "Make-GIS-Great-Again" the author has extension on chrome store, which might get taken down, but also a script that restores the view image button. It seems every other script there is a guy in the comments telling the author how to fix his "google image button" script code. I've been using this for few days with zero complaints.

If you know any other cool scripts regarding this issue link them up people!

Although I am a fan of the French language, it is necessary to remind you both that English is the standard here in the forums!!!

Do not believe in everything what you have read from somewhere.
Everything is not gold that glitters and everything is not true, which is written.

Very interesting that. The similar images button too is not visible here.
