Members are unhappy when we allow things, members are unhappy when we disallow things. I have state it before and state it again, we do not like censorship and take actions only when required. We allow news from trustable sources and are actively asking members not to engage in discussions which can cause issues on the forums. Infact, I may go further to say that members posting news can show some more responsibility and post only meaningful news or news which actually help people or make them aware about things that matter to them, rather than posting just political or religious news just for the sake of it. Going back to the original question, if we do not take actions, the forums will became a fighting scene, which is against the best interest of the community and the forums. Isnt this the exact reason the Chat box was removed? [nsane "software as it should be"] so why have a news forum at all? @DKT27 your argument for keeping the General News forum does not compute, at least not for me. In IPB 3.X there were a hook called " Ban members from forums " which was used to ban people only from some certain forums, not the the all...so those ones which do not follow the rules could be banned only from that forum.... steven36 Posted June 27, 2017 Share Posted June 27, 2017 You ban members from certain forums you may as close the forums . some veterans got most of our post from posting news , some got most of there post from posting software , some got most of there post from nothing but complaining about what members do and some got theirs from debating as long as we dont start calling each other names and we debate the post and not other members i dont really think we did anything wrong. If they not had no pity on you and thought you was reformed you would not be here and if they followed the rules 100% of the time you should not be here. You may can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time and the Mod and Admins know who most of you are there not dumb. When I done something wrong I got punished here before and I hope the mods and admins know they can tell me if i done something wrong ,because no one is perfect and my PMS is open . The problem is Larry every since you came here under you're 1st name you did not like the rules so you always wants too change them. People like me don't care and would never bother too make a new account if I was banned . I done wasted too much time as it is on here ! Well I dont keep up with all of the board activities as much as you i'm not as nosy as some and never got no one banned on this site. i really don't like too see anyone get banned because I know it dont do no good and could cause the site troubles . So i be dang if i would go as far as checking profiles too see who was banned like you . You're name was something like that is all I remember . But ban members should not make the rules and i don't try too make new rules because we have way more here now than what I signed up for in 2007. I do know this much if you have a problem like this it never done any good to post it in public . They rather you talk too them in pm if you dont like the general news or a other sub forum and i dont care if they remove it or not. I gave all that helping the staff weed out banned members when I left appznet in 2011 and refused a mod job too .This is why i know it dont do no good because I use too work with the staff at another site. .but I'm not stupid to the fact of it being a problem here too you not been back a little over a year now and trying make the rules again? . @Laryy I quit caring long ago way before i came back here in 2014 after i went off the grid for 2 years and i don't know why i stayed around as long as I have.. i didn't plan too keep posting but i did. I abandoned my home forum because a mod kept annoying me in pm . I done been a hero once and it got me no were but having too take orders from people and not get paid for working my butt off .You can't even start new topics here with out getting post marked down it's not a very friendly site any more they even do it too the staff and it's a shame. I'm sorry too call it out but it's just insane and enough is enough when they gave you guys a break and you want talk about the rules here and punishing others, look in the mirror ffs ! I think if we had a option here to put certain forums on ignore if you don't like them i think it's better than banning members .. But I'm not against removing General news but I'm not for it ether. If a site gets a rep for banning people for freedom of speech it will die out.. I done left one forum like this and it's gone now for some years. Some of these things are best not revealed. This includes the reason behind why that particular news section is not removed from the forums. I must again mention, it's not that removal or changes to the forum sections is something we will not revisit, but it's not something we are looking to do right now, as we think that benefits of these sections, even though not as fully visible, outweigh the disadvantages of it. As for plugins to stop members, I think it's too much, but again, it's not something we will not revisit later if really required. steven36 Posted June 28, 2017 Share Posted June 28, 2017 The problem with General World News there is really no good news and we have members from all countries and they could live in another country and be from there even and they see members talking about death and destruction or hate to the western world or too the eastern world people get angry and baning people with plug-ins will only stop old offenders and banning them all together chances are they will be back too do it again . So really it don't solve the problems.. I get tried of waking up every day and seeing the latest hate topic at Nsanedown when i have my coffee , download my software, etc. So i know how the OP feels. The topics need moderated faster and closed down if they are about this kind of things . Get more mods if you have too but something needs to be done if the team here don't want too close it down. Any more it takes almost 24 hours before anything is done it's a game of when the cat is away the mice will play. A lot can take place in 24 hours. I'm not going post replies in that sub forum anymore I'm just going too start hitting the report button when i see hate topics started because i may say something too offend others if it makes me angry .
