good to know. I'll give this new version a try, then.

Do I need to uninstall DFX first?

shouldn't think so, its more of a user interface update than programming overhaul

New version on reboot crashed my computer, so had to restore an image.

what do you mean "crashed your computer"?

BSOD? freezes? eternal reboots, never booted again, what?

yeah, but it might install in a different location and/or use a newer driver. Maybe it's safer to just un-install before installing the new version.

The driver is from 2013 so it not updated in years only thing changed  was the icon on the driver  ..No problems  on Windows 8.1  i installed both versions of  FxSound Enhancer 13 but on a clean machine were the old was never installed on. There was never no need for them too update the driver it was just they had too get Microsoft too sign it for DFX 12 so it would work right in Windows 10 they fixed this a long time ago . FxSound Enhancer 13 is signed by Microsoft the 1st version even was.

Why you dont like it Equalizer APO has support for DFX  as well  i just set PC Equalizer too full and DFX sounds better than it does without it.

That's why you need PC Equalizer to adjust  APO so it sounds good.. But if APO work good for you out the box that's wonderful .  To adjust APO without a GUI  you need to know each command like  for example you need to add the following line to the configuration file too boost audio Preamp: +6 db

https://sourceforge.net/p/equalizerapo/wiki/Configuration%20reference

Using a GUI  you can fine tune it were it sounds really good regardless if you use DFX too.

I don't use GUI for EqualizerAPO, i just use "Configuration Editor" of software and it working very good.

Well i can't argue about that because APO is free , But still DFX is good say if you use Netflix did you know  APO want work in DRM Protected apps .

The problem is that APOs are meant to be signed and included with a sound card driver. Equalizer APO can not be signed because it is not part of a sound card driver and therefore officially unsupported.

To allow unsigned APOs to be used, the registry value DisableProtectedAudioDG in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Audio has to be set to 1. This will allow the APO to be loaded but at the same time break the protected audio path, which makes some applications refuse to work. I don't see any way around this for Equalizer APO.

I don't know of alternatives to E-APO that provide the same functionality (system-wide parametric equalizer with any sound card). The only alternative I know of is the kX driver, which is however limited to some Creative sound cards and replaces the official driver.

https://sourceforge.net/p/equalizerapo/discussion/general/thread/03aaf0be/?limit=25

So if you use DRM protected apps like Xbox Music and Netflix in Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 just use DFX instead .  I dont use DRM or Netflix so it's never been a problem for me. DFX uses a audio driver were it can get around this were APO does not. It's a limitation in Windows.   :P

Writing your own Audio Processing Object and deploying it by hacking existing driver stores is not supported by Microsoft. The only supported way to deploy an APO is to package it as part of an audio driver, including going through the Hardware Compatibility Kit to get a Microsoft signature.

I just did a quick test, and I can't find any audio benefit using Equalizer APO, so I will just stick with FxSound Enhancer.

Maybe you guys are just talking about CPU benefits. I am not worried about CPU benefits with modern computers.

Thanks for the patch November. Now I can finally evaluate all of its features. If they'll work well, I'll buy it. But there is no way I'm paying 40+ EUR blindly. It's just too expensive to make random purchase and limited demo is just not showing me enough features to make a good decision on purchase.
