Windows 10 Creators Update adoption going well

Adoption of the Windows 10 Creators Update is going well, according to new data provided by AdDuplex, with 18 percent of all Windows 10 devices already running it.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607) remains the number one version at this point with a share of 75.4 percent, and the Creators Update has already become the second most widely used version in just a month on the market. Windows 10 version 1511 (November Update) is third with 4.6 percent, while the original Windows 10 version is next with 1.6 percent.

0.5 percent of the Windows 10 computers out there are already running Windows 10 Redstone 3 (Fall Creators Update) builds as part of the Windows Insider program.

AdDuplex says adoption of the Windows 10 Creators Update is going well and “is comparable to the rollout velocity of the previous Anniversary Update.”

Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update adoption

As far as mobile devices are concerned, the Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update is now running on 55.9 percent of the phones, while the Anniversary Update is next with 34.4 percent.

“Mobile Creators Update was released much later than on the desktop, but propagated much faster and is now on almost 56 percent of Windows 10 phones. This could be attributed to the likely enthusiast nature of most people still using Windows 10 Mobile or much more limited variety of hardware,” AdDuplex explains.

Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update is available for only 13 models, with Microsoft again taking the controversial decision to leave some phones behind despite running preview builds smoothly as part of the Insider program.

Phones like the Lumia 930 and 1520 aren’t eligible for the Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update and can only get the new OS version as part of the Release Preview ring in the Windows Insider program. Users who want to stick with a stable OS version, however, need to continue running the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update.
