The way things are going, UseNet (Newgroups) may be the "new" BitTorrent. IMO, it's almost always superior for old stuff. Newsgroup hosters still host stuff up to ~ 7 years old. Not that it was ever the best of the best, but it at least projected the idea that it, unlike others, was going to last. Now that it too has gone under, this only underscores how insecure torrenting has become, and how much our internet freedoms have been diminished.
