The VideoLAN project targets multimedia streaming of MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and DivX files, DVDs, digital satellite channels, digital terrestial television channels and live videos on a high-bandwidth IPv4 or IPv6 network in unicast or multicast under many OSes. VideoLAN also features a cross-platform multimedia player, VLC, which can be used to read the stream from the network or display video read locally on the computer under all GNU/Linux flavours, all BSD flavours, Windows, Mac OS X, BeOS, Solaris, QNX, Familiar Linux. VideoLAN is free software, and is released under the GNU General Public License. It started as a student project at the French École Centrale Paris but is now a worldwide project with developers from 20 countries.

not really, because the same happened in the past, that final version was already released in repositories, just that website was not updated for few days.

FYI, i decided to try this version and played a dvd with it. Turns out the DVD menu does not display correctly.

 

Went back to 2.2.4 and the menu displays correctly.

 

So, bottom line, be careful with this version, it seems to be buggy.

DVD playback is ok, make sure your video driver is fully updated and that hardware acceleration decoding and deinterleaced settings are in automatic mode inside VLC settings.

And more over! They broken CROP function! Instead of crop the screen, it just change aspect. The picture will be curved and nothing cropped! :lol:

This version is sucks as never had before!
