Bogachev is the FBI's most wanted cybercriminal

The FBI's most wanted cybercriminal, for whom it issued a $3 million bounty, is apparently the man the Russian intelligence is using for its schemes. Evgeniy Bogachev is a man who has made a mountain of money siphoning bank accounts from around the world.

Bogachev has a long list of hacking schemes he's responsible of. He's drained millions of dollars from businesses around the world. Back in 2014, one of his malware schemes was shut down and it's one you may have heard of - GameOver Zeus. This one made him richer than he probably ever dreamed of, the New York Times reports.

He's already been indicted in the United States after he was accused of creating a network of virus-infected computers to siphon hundreds of millions of dollars from bank accounts from all over the world. Back in December, Obama and his administration announced sanctions against Bogachev, as well as five others, following information that Russia had meddled in the presidential election, although, officially, he did not have any role in the hacking of the Democratic National committee.

Unofficially, it is believed that he's now working with Russian intelligence in a classic villain-turned-informant Hollywood movie script.

Not that unbelievable

It wouldn't be too far-fetched to believe he was coopted by the Russian intelligence. After all, at one point, he had about 1 million computers in multiple countries. With these many computers at his disposal, getting information was easy. It seems the Russians were particularly looking after documents containing words such as "top secret" or "Department of Defense."

Bogachev lives like a supervillain. He owns a yacht, he owns villas across Europe and is known to have kept a fleet of cars so he would never have to rent a vehicle. While he's known to be extremely paranoid, he doesn't shy away from living under his own name, despite the FBI target on his back.

Since there's no extradition agreement between the United States and Russia, it's quite possible that he's living quite comfortably in his own country; when he's not jetting off to see a little bit more sunshine.

Having his name associated with being worth 3 million us dollars & popularized by being in online news... surprised somebody hasn't showed him the way to usa yet - Unless he pays them more dearly.
