Another luxury company that wants to go with the flow

The new Nokia 3310 has been highly praised soon after it was revealed by HMD Global, but many consider the phone a fail since it doesn't really look like the original model, which is slightly larger, thicker and heavier.

Recently, Russian company Gresso launched its own take on the Nokia 3310, the Meridian, a feature phone priced to sell for no less than $3,000. Today, another company from the same country is trying to take advantage of the hype around HMD Global's dumb phone, Caviar.

The new feature phone launched by Caviar is called Nokia 3310 Supremo Putin, which is definitely unusual since HMD Global is the only company that can sell Nokia-branded phones. Perhaps the Nokia branding is just there for marketing reasons and the luxury phone will be sold as Supremo Putin after all.

Regardless, the phone is now listed on Caviar's website as Nokia 3310 Supremo Putin and strongly resembles the dumb phone unveiled by HMD Global early this week.

In fact, it also comes with the same specs as the new Nokia 3310 such as a 2.4-inch LCD display, 2-megapixel rear-facing camera and microSD card slot for memory expansion.

However, the Supremo Putin features a bas-relief of the Russian president on the back side, as well as “plaques with a quote from the National Anthem and a thin mesh-like engraving, applied to the body by hand.”

The Menu button features “a miniature image of the coat of arms of the Russian Federation.” All these are gold plated, and the feature phone comes in a nice-looking wooden case lined with black velvet.

Unlike the new Nokia 3310 announced by HMD Global that will sell for €49, Caviar's luxury Nokia 3310 Supremo Putin feature phone is available for purchase for no less than $1,700. We won't be surprised to see a Donald Trump version of the Nokia 3310 either.
