steven36
DOJ says it would rather drop a child porn case than reveal technical details about the FBI's Tor Browser exploit, as a court had ordered. DOJ said that disclosing details of the FBI's Tor Browser exploit "is not currently an option." Link to DOJ's motion: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/3480737-19717351292.html DOJ's motion leaves open the possibility that it could re-indict the case if or when the exploit is no longer classified. straycat19
By not disclosing the TOR hack that means they must still be using it in other investigations. Which means it must still be a viable hack. If I were Mr. Michaud I would not get too comfortable because as soon as the FBI gets finished with whatever they are doing now, he is going to go away for a very long time. In the meantime I imagine Mr. Michaud has big brother looking over his shoulder at every move he makes because anything he does wrong that isn't discovered by the TOR hack can be used against him in other prosecutions. Just like when the Feds couldn't bust Al Capone for violation of the prohibition, the got him for income tax evasion. How they got him off the street wasn't as important as the fact that he was in jail.

Only part of what you say I agree with is most likely they still using it ..Every time the FBI gets challenged in court they tuck there head between there legs and run even if it means they set a pedo free . You cant compare the FBI of Hoover's days too this circus we have in there now , back in those days they actually fighted crime in the street the last time I think I seen the FBI in my area was back in the 90s most of the time they just send the US Marshals in if they are looking someone . Hoover was no hero ether the movie made him look like and angel compared to how he really was. https://americanfreepress.net/j-edgar-hoover-was-much-worse-than-new-tell-all-movie-depicts/ The FBI then The FBI Now All this proves is protecting there weapons witch in this case its cyber malware is more important than a conviction and seeing actual justice served and they call them the U.S. Department of Justice what a joke. Back when Hoover was still alive no one dared to talk about him he would had you killed or sent to prison or exposed Every president he served under but Nixon feared him and see happen to Nixon ? Trump made fun of all of them before he even took office that never would of went down in public in Hoover's days if you valued your lively hood. Still the Mob is very much alive and kicking today just the names have changed is all. The Italian Mob Is Still Alive and Violent http://europe.newsweek.com/mafia-mob-la-cosa-nostra-arrests-busts-assault-fraud-extortion-gambling-fbi-487466?rm=eu Every time they catch someone they just promote new bosses .
