5G Is Coming This Year! Verizon Announces Test Program

Well, we all know that the new technology to create much faster and flexible 5G wireless networks are already in progress. Like we have seen Qualcomm has demonstrated some possible methods to deliver better performances with the help of 5G at CES 2017.

Well, 5G networks are previously expected to be deployed starting in 2020 which is still three years away. Now, Verizon is taking yet another step and announced that they would be rolling out “pre-commercial” 5G Service to customers in 11 cities around the US this year.

The cities which will get to test the 5G Networks are Ann Arbor, Atlanta, Bernardsville (NJ), Brockton (MA), Dallas, Denver, Houston, Miami, Sacramento, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. Selected customers in the mentioned cities can participate in the trial.

Well, it will be worth noticing that the speed that is being promised by 5G connectivity might be a game-changer for wireless connectivity. Samsung previously claimed that by using the ultra-high broadcast frequencies, 5G connectivity would deliver the data transfer speeds that are up to 200 times faster than current 4G networks.

According to Droid-life “Verizon is calling this pre-commercial 5G, as they work to fully commercialize broadband (or fixed) wireless 5G connections to both homes and businesses.”

But I think it won't take more than a couple years to spread around the globe

Thanks, JeffDunhill:  that's certainly the case with technology these days.

Indonesia is catching up fast, Lordi!  :)

Future arrives earlier now -- everywhere. ^_^

Semoga beruntung!

Terima Kasih!

Funny thing this, Indian government is already talking about this.

The problem however remains that the internet backbone of the country needs real big improvement, something that the government seems to be ignoring as the concentration currently remains on making internet reach everywhere in the country through mobile. The other problem is international connectivity of the undersea cables, while other countries in the developed world have fast undersea cables, the only good cable India has is the one connected with Singapore, all the others are either too little or are relatively too slow. So how are you going to reach those speeds if your internet backbone does not allow you to do so.

Global submarine cable connectivity

Thing is, the whole country has less cables than some cities worldwide do as per this.

Of course!

India is a country of contrasts -- a mini Universe, a replica of the Universe, eh?

How many countries launch 104 satellites from a single rocket; and send spacecraft to Mars; ...; yet,  <fill in the blank >.

;)    :)  :D

Enjoy!
